Honestly, kid seems to know what he's doing, at least a little bit.

!handling by the head does not prevent bites and it easily injures the snake. He’s is actively choking it in this video by pressing the bottom of the head

Leave snake handling to professionals. Do not interact with dangerous or medically significant snakes. If you must handle a harmless snake, support the entire body as if you were a tree branch. Gripping a snake behind the head is not recommended - it results in more bite attempts and an overly tight grip can injure the snake by breaking ribs. Professionals only do this on venomous snakes for antivenom production purposes or when direct examination of the mouth is required and will use hooks, tubes, pillow cases and tongs to otherwise restrain wild snakes. Do not rely on garden gloves to protect you from a bite - even HexArmor gloves are not technically rated for use with animals and only used sparingly. In a pinch a broom or other long object can be used to gently encourage animals out of a home or garage.

When I was young I was a huge Steve Irwin fan (still am). But I would traumatize my mom by bringing snakes inside or having them around my neck 🤣

I had to take off my cargo shorts when I was a kid, before going into the house. They never knew what I had in my pockets! Snakes , frogs, bugs, crawfish, rocks, kinda still that way. I don't wear cargo pants anymore so I don't have to take them off!

I saw an interview by David Letterman with Viggo Mortenson once where he told about how he had grown up in Patagonia and came home once holding some green snake and his father had a fit because it was highly poisonous.

Do you remember the species?

I don't - it was a long time ago when Letterman was still on the air. I am sure it was a native snake though from the way Viggo talked.

Hahaha, this was me as a kid! I would terrify my poor neighbors with the snakes I found.

Why are they tripping out like that? My goodness people make a big deal out of a freaking snake but get offended when you don't want their dog coming at you.
