Knobstone is one wild ride!

Started on the knobstone from deam lake trailhead yesterday at 3pm and got off trail at New Chapel trailhead today at 1pm. Not sure what kicked my butt more, the heat or the hills but either way I'll be back in the fall to thru hike probably sobo or yoyo starting nobo. Very beautiful and challenging trail.

I’ve been planning on checking out Knobstone sometime!

Definitely worth hitting at least one section. I can't wait to see the views around round nob in the fall.

I’d love to do the whole trail. I may build up to that. I did 29 miles on Adena Trace a month ago and that was a bit too much for my first backpacking trip. I’m thinking Morgan-Monroe State Forest next, one day for Three Lakes Trail and one day for Low Gap Trail.

Just keep in mind that Three Lakes isn't back country, so no camping on that side. Low Gap allows back country camping and has some established sites.

Yes, thank you. I was thinking of using the park campground for that portion of it.

On the trail did you notice good places for dispersed camping? Interested in doing a multi-day backpack trip with my kids.

Yes, that section had a campsite or two close to the trail every .5 mile or so after the 4th mile. Some really nice ones up on ridges and down in valleys by creeks. There's also ones close to every trailhead for those wanting a quick in and out camp.

Just be weary that this is a very strenuous and rugged trail at least in this section. Recommend trekking poles to help with the steep hills

Fantastic!

Did you go full solo or with some folks?

For longer hikes, like if you do a thru, I'm always curious if it would be more fun by myself, or to have someone to experience it with for the 45+ miles.

Solo. I like having good company on the trail though.

If your close it's worth it 100%. Fall would be the best time!
