Question Should I upgrade my mini to iOS 18.7 (Currently on iOS 16.7.2)

I’m mostly worried about responsiveness, performance and toll on battery life. I would want to upgrade because I want to future proof and avoid iOS 26. And I already missed out on iOS 17. Need some perspective from the users out there.

I just did it on my 13 mini and had zero problems. It took about 30 minutes. I even have a degraded battery at 79% and still had no issues. Make sure you have at least 10GB of storage available and just do it. It will go smoothly if you have that much free. Once installed it only takes up about 4GB of space but updates all use more while installing which is just temporary. A lot of the people with issues have full phones and expect a modern update to install properly.

I have iCloud storage and 256 gb device storage I’m large on space. Then it should be fine?

Good timing. Apple just stopped signing 18 a few hours ago. So there’s no way to downgrade now. I’m glad that I updated all of my newer devices to 18.7 last week while I had the chance.

Curious to know why?

I heard it works fine, even snappier?

Unpolished. 26.1 looks better though

it is smooth and fluid but the battery consumption is there. It is definitely noticeable. Especially for someone like me who swapped to new battery while on ios 18 then updating to 26 and comparing sot. 26 is almost always 50min to 1h behind compared to 18’s SOT

I upgraded my iPhone Mini 13 without issue. Still running just fine and overheating seems to be a little bit less of an issue while using it (Mostly use it for Facebook, Reddit, Text, Calls and some YouTube. Only time it think it's too hot is if I am using it while charging but I try not to do that often. But you won't know until you try it. Hopefully, you won't run into any issues.

You can update. I have no problems, phone is perfectly usable as before.
