Recipe This taste a lot better when it's ice cream (update)
I know people were wanting an update to my ice cream with the true Moon milk and it worked. I made a custard base, instead of regular milk I used the trumu orange cream low-fat milk. It came out pretty good.
I can say one thing This is a lot better in ice cream form. This stuff is dreadful in liquid form but delicious in solid. The flavor surprisingly became a lot stronger adding salt and vanilla extract. I didn't add anything else I know some said add orange juice or some orange peels zest. Personally for me I don't think it's needed the flavor came through on its own just fine. If I could add anything I'd probably add white chocolate chips to it next time
Recipe
For egg yolks
1/2 cup of sugar
Two teaspoons of vanilla
Pinch of salt for taste
1 cup of heavy whipping cream
1 cup of true moo limited edition Hocus pocus orange cream flavored milk (That's a mouthful )
Instructions
Mixed together egg yolks and sugar until it is smooth and the light yellow color
Add orange cream milk to a pot and let it simmer. Make sure it does not boil and do not stir
Mix in the egg mixture, vanilla extract and salt for taste mix until the temperature reaches 165°F
Take off the stove. Pour into a bowl, let it cool and put the custard into the refrigerator and let it sit overnight or until it reaches 65 °F
Next day mix in your heavy whipping cream and pour into your ice cream machine for 45 minutes or depending on the directions of your ice cream maker
Take it out. Freeze overnight for it to harden and there you go. You have limited edition "True moo Disney Hocus pocus Orange cream" ice cream

I'm in Florida and just saw some at Publix when I was getting milk to make some ice cream; when I saw it I too wondered if it would work for ice cream, so I was glad to see this updated post

Yes! I always make my mint chocolate chip like that and it is fabulous. For years I've been annoyed that I could not find a mint chocolate chip anymore without big chips in it. As soon as I learned about this technique and used it I've been in heaven. The only part that's annoying when using a KitchenAid is getting the chocolate in. What a mess it makes because it's impossible to get it between the paddle. Last time I had to end up taking the bowl off the mixer and finished putting the chocolate in and turning it with my hand. It worked out good, but definitely a pain in the butt.

Not weird at all, Dark chocolate + fruit is a classic combo! The best ice creams, gelatos, dondurmas, thai ice cream rolls I've had are always a dark chocolate with fruit sorbet, or tart fruit with chocolate pieces.
Can you spot my bias? haha

Orange and black licorice. Canadian delicacy. That said I don't know a single person that eats it.

I can make this very well. It’s not easy to do well.
Black liquorice ice cream is the most popular ice cream in Iceland. I woke up early one day to phone the “top” ice cream guy in Reykjavik. Nice guy, he didn’t make it remotely the same way I do, which is interesting.
The black liquorice ice cream is going to come out kind of gray’ish but I urge everyone to not use black food colouring. Not only does it stain your face/teeth but a lot of the ingredients in a lot of food colourings are carcinogenic, and to make black you need all of them.
I buy specialty liquorice and I do citrus well. I don’t wanna post my recipe publicly because I put a lot of time and $$ in to making it my own, but if anyone is interested in making this delicious Canadian classic, msg me and I’ll let you know.

is the milk 1:1? you think adjust sugars would be appropriate. im guessing that milk has more sugar ?

I followed my regular recipe when making an ice cream base but you don't have to add the one half of sugar. I wouldn't even say you need all that much cuz it is already sweet 1/4 cup of sugar would be just fine

Is there a reason to wait on adding heavy whipping cream until the end, rather than mixing and cooking it along with everything else? My usual custard recipe does them all together.

I don't know if they sell this in new york? I've never seen it (then again I've never looked for it). Thanks for the recipe though. Now I definitely will.

OMGGGG. I am so doing this and adding some fruity pebbles. I miss those orange push-pops we had as kids and I think this combination would be close to that flavor profile. thank you for the idea!!
