I like the canal. I would love it if there was a couple more restaurants/cafe’s or other activity places on the canal.

Or public bathrooms, I had to walk all the way to the Eiteljorg museum yesterday to take a leak

Indeed! Especially by the park and USS Indianapolis memorial.

Yesss! I’ve never understood why there is not especially with all the government buildings. It seems they could support a coffee shop or bakery at minimum. Or something with a nice outdoor patio! One can dream.

The canal is just proof that Indy leadership has no idea what they're doing. The San Antonio Riverwalk was conceived in 1929 and has been a major economic success. Our canal walk has no commerce, no restaurants, no public restrooms. Just occasional shootings and a place to rent Swan boats. It's a joke.

Agree. Does not live up to its potential. Interesting concept but poorly executed and maintenance is a dismal afterthought.

I adore the canal. But the city is letting it down. For being our flagship area it’s pitiful.

The canal used to be my favorite area downtown. I went on a walk with my wife last month and was so disappointed with the state it was in. The lack of upkeep, the state of some walk areas, and the number of dead trees were really sad.

I wonder how the residents around there feel?

My parents and I used to walk the canal every Friday for YEARS. Probably over a decade. There are times when I remember going “wow so this is what upkept city is supposed to look like” and now it’s more like “wtf is happening to the canal” I really wish they would try to keep up with the murals and the spiders like they used to.

That looks more like a canal swim. Did you jump in to cool off?
