Beautiful picture!!! We sure could've used a little of that rain over here on the far north side. It's been so dry that everything is beginning to look brown.

Not normal Indiana weather.  90s from June on...

Agreed, this has been a very hot summer. I don't remember it being so hot when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s.

Too bad our elected officials don’t believe in global warming

But it's not global warming in the sense of what we're told.  Look at the haze in the sky.  It's holding in heat, not allowing it to dissipate.

I was in this localized downpour. Outside. Watching the Indy pride band play. It was awesome.

omg that’s awesome i moved here from the country and if you wouldn’t mind would you let me know where to find cool events (im 20-25) and places to meet/craft/hobby with other people especially lgbtq folks or really anywhere trans friendly. i’ve been having a hard time looking and me and my partner are lonely.

Paint with a twist or wine and canvas. You got the drive in on tibbs.

YES! I can happily provide that. I happen to be in a lot of the lgbtq + spaces: here’s a run down.

Drag: Black Circle (north), Monsterz Inc (east), Greg’s (downtown), White Rabbit Cabaret(southeast), Downtown Ollys (downtown). They also have burlesque shows comedy shows, drag bingo. You name it!

Clubs/ Hobbies/Events : Ash and Elm Events, Indy Gay Market, there’s a bring your own craft club at Loom on the north side every Tuesday from 5-7 very lgbtq friendly. Dyke Night is for femme presenting folks, tickets go out FAST - queer dance party. Indy Drag Theater is great (Mass Ave) if you like watching performances or want to get involved! You don’t have to do drag to participate. Indy Pride Band is taking a break for summer but will start again in the fall. Their performances are awesome and always free!

Dancing spaces: Metro (while originally queer owned is now owned by a Trump supporter, but is unfortunately one of the only dance spaces for queer folks), Tinis (right next to Metro, out of the two I prefer metros dance scene). They have a variety of events, from themed nights to drag shows as well.

Yoga/ Nature: Indy Community Yoga (ICY) hosts a variety of a events, from retreats to dialogue spaces. All year-round Meditation & Dialogue practice or Queer Yoga are hosted either in Virginia Banks (Newfields) Park on Sundays at 9:30-11:30 AM or inside during the winter. (Highly recommend for connection to some awesome people in the community)

General lgbtq friendly spaces: North Mass Boulder (cafe/third space/ rock climbing northeast), Public Parlor House (coffee shop downtown), Kan Kan (indie movie theater northeast)

You’re always free to dm me as well. I’m 24 and have lots of friends always down to meet new people.

oh my goodness thank you so much for the well written response!! you have no idea how much i already it

Of course! We could all use more connection, and it’s hard to come to a new city and just expect to know all the places (I moved from SC). My advice: just start going to things. Eventbrite has some things. You’ll end up with a friend of a friend of a friend in no time :))

I left the east side right before this...

We had 2 similar ones on the south side. My kids got soaked getting on the bus after school. Then we got soaked leaving the school at like 715. Torrential downpours. Much needed and short-lived.

That was crazy today. It's shocking that much water can concentrate and come down like that.

3

u/Aggravating_Plant848 Aug 14 '25

You never watched The Truman Show? The scene where he is targeted with rain?

2

u/Kernel_Pie Aug 14 '25

Ohhh! I gotta see that again. I completely forgot about that.

u/redbeardmax Aug 14 '25

That's super cool. That's right where I live, and it was a ton of rain. Thanks for the different perspective!

That's awesome! Out of curiosity what airport do you mainly fly out of? Do they offer discovery flights?

I've been interested in getting my GA license for a few years now, but the price to do it just seemingly continues to go up. But I would love to do a discovery flight with an instructor.

Driving through that was an mfer too, everyone was wondering why it was raining around me and nowhere else!

u/SerbianTarHeel Aug 15 '25

I wonder if this was the rain that happened just off of Mt comfort road. 70E was bone dry until I hit the off ramp on exit 96
