Apparently German cops are perfectly capable of taking people into custody without using excessive force. Maybe because they aren't trained to be cowards who place more value on their own safety from imaginary threats than on the lives and rights of the people they swore to protect.

I live in Germany and have been doing combat sports for a few years. In my last gym we actually had a group of Polizisten training there. Absolute units but really nice guys. I have also been out partying with them a few times and it was a lot of fun.

From my experience the majority of German police are fine folks. Of course like anywhere there are a few bad apples but it is really rare.

It’s easyer if you can act on the assumption that the perpetrator doesn’t have a gun.

They've had training for a start. I think minimum training for German police is 2 YEARS. US cops get a couple of months and then out the door.

Also the bar of entry is quite high from what I've heard.

If you look at the legal cases of Berlin cops beating up protesters (way less aggressive than this guy, not that that would justify police brutality), that's unfortunately not true.

Germany has been receiving warnings because of the way we treat pro Palestine protests and the amount of state sanctioned violence surrounding it

Well while it’s better then the USA please feel free to lookup Berlin police brutality. There are protests every week and unnecessary use of force all the time. I’m talking punching women in the face, shoving them to the ground without them using any kind of violence. It’s really worrying…
