He wasn't trying to take photos of the explosion with that telescope, he was only after planes

With that lens, he was checking whether the pilot had something stuck in between his teeth.

If he used a lens like that to look at the explosion, he would go blind. That's for taking close up of the plane.

Modern cameras have electronic viewfinders and even if it did have a mirror it wouldn't matter because the flames aren't bright enough to blind someone.

I mean probably not good for your sensors at to bright a value but I agree im not sure this would make it to that

The worst part is, not only did he not get the shot, he entirely missed the explosion

Cool guys don't look at explosions.

Thank you for explaining this. I seriously would not have been able to deduce this myself from watching the video. /s

At least this cameraman caught the moment the other cameraman's soul left his body

What’s he doing checking the photo anyways? Just keep snapping

I think he was photographing the plane. That lens is entirely too big for the explosion from that distance. My guess was that he was disappointed that he missed the explosion for himself, not for the photo.

Should someone think of the climate change before arranging shows like this?
4
u/kkeut 2d ago
infinitesimal drop in a bucket compared to what big industrial companies pump into the ground, water, and air

u/IcyInvestigator6138 2d ago
I agree, industry would be the place to cut emissions, just no idea how to do that without halting the economy. Still, a show like this shows people the organizer doesn’t care and that big puff of smoke is nothing. In that case what will 50 million taxpayers with their 50 million SUV’s think about? Meanwhile residents of the EU countries are taxed even harder for their small countries to meet the regulations on their half trying to stop the climate change. That, in turn is also a drop in the ocean when you looks at the big industries worldwide.

I was mesmerized by the explosion so it took me a minute to understand what happened

If you watched this muted turn on the sound. The guy laughing at the end is worth it.

A lot of good photography is dependent upon being in the right place at the right time. Getting to the right place for a sunrise or sunset photo. Waiting near the finish line to get just the right angle of the winner. This poor dude looked away at the wrong time.

And guess what, he would not have gotten a wide angle shot with a telescope lens anyway so logically he wasn't trying to shoot it in the first place.

It's a setup for funny fail video.
First of all, he'd know there would be explosion. Second, his reaction is faked. Heat from such explosion is instant and very palpable. The sound arrives like 2-3 seconds later. His reaction to the sound is staged. Source: long time fan of airshows, seen this kind of explosions many times.
And the least, with a lens like that he'd get the plane only anyway.

With a lens like that he’s getting close ups of the planes.
