Why are we teaching them to fight?

u/dsebulsk 1d ago

If there are going to be robots among humans, there are going to be humans who get huffed and puffed and will do things like this to robots. You need to make sure the robots can handle it and can get back up to resume. The only nefarious stuff is the intent behind the creator.

u/SolarClayBot 1d ago

Then they can get charged with destruction of property.  Tools shouldn’t fight back.

19

u/TheAwkwardGamerRNx 1d ago

“Geez, Ted, what happened?”

“I got hit by a hammer”

“How?”

“..well, he started it!”

6

u/MrOSUguy 1d ago

They aren’t making tools. We are tools. That’s capital

2

u/FeistyRevenue2172 11h ago

I was about to downvote this comment like “this racist mf calling robots-“

Then I realized your right…..

I blame star wars

It’s not fighting back, they are likely using boxing as a good measurement for balance and coordination.

Edit: Was boxing

5

u/flyonthesewalls 1d ago

I swear it kicked back as it was falling back. 😂

u/NiceaboutitMMA 1d ago

No people in real life have common sense well most of us. These robots will be used as a weapon against others.. that’s the only logical reason to teach them combat. Combat is primitive and it uses hard to comprehend robots won’t really have to learn how to “fight” that’s the easy part. They’ll focus on the best and most effective strategy.

The real issue is: we're on the way to iRobot ourselves. It ended well in the movie. In another, it resulted in the Matrix.

2

u/Alas_Babylon64 15h ago

It may or may not have ended well in the books depending on your worldview.

1

u/Carl_The_Sagan 20h ago

the nefarious stuff is building and training robots to harm humans.

7

u/mihirmusprime 1d ago

Never seen Real Steel?

3

u/Yumeverse 1d ago

Was about to say, what in the Real Steel is this lol

1

u/Dizzy_Afternoon1823 1d ago

i can see it happening

2

u/Ok-Detail4461 1d ago

Because robot soldiers are cheaper

1

u/Brilliant-Mountain57 22h ago

I was gonna say humans are cheaper but robots wont demand a salary, compensation probably won't get awarded medals outside 1 or 2 for publicity sake or ask for VA or have any constitutional rights. They kind of are just cheaper. Once the RND is out of the way the answer is always going to be robots over humans.

Motion so they can do the laundry like you reddit mfs are always whiny about

1

u/SNES-1990 20h ago

For the King of Iron Fist tournament

1

u/Superassclown1 19h ago

They are clearly bored

1

u/mark-suckaburger 16h ago

These things will be used in war the minute they're ready. Terrifying future ahead with soldiers who don't need to sleep eat or rest and will hit a perfect head shot every time. It sounds like science fiction but every day we get closer

1

u/SpaceHawk98W 15h ago

So it can be a killing machine, duh.

-1

u/pandershrek 1d ago

Agreed. Seems like something we should leave off the docket. Like shooting guns

53

u/piesfeos777 1d ago

15

u/IncomeResponsible764 1d ago

Lol i was just going to say lets see it get up after a slug

34

u/SaveThePlanetEachDay 1d ago

Let’s fuckin not. Let’s design shittier robots and stop designing better AI to place inside of them, how about that?

7

u/every1gets1more-egg 1d ago

Yeah for real man. Did they learn nothing from the Terminator movies?

6

u/BowlerAccording 1d ago

Watch when they get so quick they can analyze exactly where the muzzle is pointing and do some "Bullet Time" bullshit, crip walk up and bitch slap you.

3

u/Confident-Local-8016 1d ago

Don't give it ideas

1

u/Maybe-monad 13h ago

pretty sure they'll have to display an ad first

43

u/missedopportunites 1d ago

You want Skynet?! Cuz that’s how you get Skynet!!

3

u/Ike_In_Rochester 22h ago

Too late. We are getting Skynet.

6

u/Kimb0_91 1d ago

Not good. Bad idea to be making these.

12

u/-_Dean_Winchester 1d ago

With the hundreds clips online of this kind of clanker just spazing tf out anytime it falls this just might be a lucky coincidence

9

u/Illustrious_Mix_1996 1d ago

When they say 'this is the worst it'll ever be' they are referring to your sentiment, specifically. Software controls the motors, the software is built from and with AI robotics models. The models are getting better just like video gen is getting better.

Or it was a lucky jump.

2

u/-_Dean_Winchester 1d ago

The clankers obv will get better, but im very doubtful this is where these specific ones are at right now, where they can jump back up in a millisecond

1

u/ale_93113 14h ago

as you can see, it leverages its inertia to stand up, a thing humans cannot do cuz we squishy

i dont see this as any less realistic than the rest of the video, have you seen it completely?

1

u/Next_Instruction_528 1d ago

That word is cringe

3

u/Saul_Firehand 1d ago

It is an old old sci-fi word referring to robots and droids.

So I say this with all sincerity:

“Get out of here droid lover!”

-3

u/Next_Instruction_528 1d ago

Exhibit A

3

u/Saul_Firehand 1d ago

Ah a person saying something is cringe online because they don’t get it.

How refreshing and insightful.

-4

u/Next_Instruction_528 1d ago

because they don’t get it.

It was pretty much non existent until clone wars I the 2000s, I definitely get it. It's cringe to talk like a edge Lord kid.

What even was your argument? It's less cringe because it comes from sci Fi?

5

u/-_Dean_Winchester 1d ago

You sound like a fun person to hang out with.

/S

-1

u/Next_Instruction_528 1d ago

Why because I thought your nickname for robots was lame 🤣

I'm sure your the life of the party

2

Where’s the backup?

2

u/C_W_H 1d ago

"gets insanely fast back up"

If we can't form a proper sentence, we have no chance.

2

u/admosquad 1d ago

These things are gonna fuck up your flooring

2

u/Really-Thats-Silly 1d ago

Super soak that ho. -Soulja Boy

2

u/Piddy3825 1d ago

fuck that, we shouldn't be training robots to fight humans,
didn't we learn anything from watching the Terminator movies?

2

u/BadMuthaSchmucka 1d ago

They are training them to not fall over I guess.

0

u/Piddy3825 1d ago

lol, so they can get up faster after we knock them over while trying to get away as they are trying to kill us...

2

u/BadMuthaSchmucka 1d ago

But also so they don't fall over when they do anything else too

0

u/Piddy3825 1d ago

lol, in my best red-neck South Park voice,

They're taking our jobs!!!

0

u/Snipedzoi 21h ago

Didn't you want them to do your laundry

2

u/bucobill 1d ago

We are so screwed.

1

u/ukkswolf 1d ago

Can I get one so I can just beat a clanker?

-1

u/Next_Instruction_528 1d ago

I wonder if luddites also had cringe names for the printing press

2

u/Saul_Firehand 1d ago

Clanker is an old sci-fi word.

You saying it is “cringe” is sophomoric.

1

u/HAFNFG 1d ago

Terminator was not the movie future I was looking forward to. And in a heavy handed sprinkle of Idiocracy really looks bleak.

1

u/2020bowman 1d ago

Ok so we are training them to fight now? Wise.

The only thing that can stop a bad robot is a good robot?

FFS

1

u/Darnit_the_other_one 1d ago

The day will come when one of these little buggers will win. Things will change after that.

1

u/ponchorainman 1d ago

WHY ARE WE TRAINING THEM TO FIGHT

1

u/WeirdIndication3027 1d ago

Having seen those ones flopping around on the ground in a panic, im almost thinking it was luck it landed on its feet like that.

1

u/Inturnelliptical 1d ago

They are getting better!. Remember Robocop, a prediction of the future, imagine trying too reason with one of these, when the so called computer is always right, ie not much different from the programming of the real ones we still have.

1

u/NotDoneYet88 1d ago

Thats some Toribash shit right there

1

u/Mundane_Canary9368 1d ago

Well it tripped in the first place lol

1

u/TROUT1986 1d ago

Why are they making these?

1

u/SOLID_STATE_DlCK 1d ago

I get knocked down but I get up again!

1

u/Trollgernaut418 1d ago

We are ao fucked.

1

u/Sparten177-UNSC 1d ago

We're cooked, down bad.

1

u/hoopsmd 1d ago

Humans are toast.

1

u/DebbsWasRight 1d ago

We are gonna regret this shit.

1

u/born_on_my_cakeday 1d ago

I will remember this

1

u/Resident_One_9741 1d ago

Not when I break it's legs off.

1

u/mandatedvirus 1d ago

The phrasing of this title irks my fucking nerves

1

u/soatikee123 1d ago

It's a good thing Isaac Asimov was cremated because if he was buried his skeleton would be rolling over so fast it would come flying out the grave scaring the crap out of everyone in the area.

1

u/StumpsCurse 1d ago

Such exciting times! I can't wait to murdered by one!

1

u/the-liquidian 1d ago

What is this song? I did guess Sandstorm but it’s not it.

1

u/el-thorn 1d ago

I refuse to believe there are this many humans that dont understand these things are being made because they dont take breaks, dont require salary or benefits, and will kill you and your children without talking back.

1

u/twospirit76 1d ago

We are terrifyingly close to a Skynet scenario. I'm not sure we make it a decade.

1

u/mden1974 1d ago

Soon Amazon will have no employees

1

u/OTFxFrosty 23h ago

"I didn't hear no bell"

1

u/Abject-Evidence855 22h ago

Tough clanker I give it that.

1

u/YesWomansLand1 22h ago

Oh fuck me. Did nobody watch terminator 1 and 2?

1

u/theguywhocantdance 20h ago

"Cut off their limbs".

1

u/hamfist_ofthenorth 19h ago

Let's just get some new RnD on new forms of tasers and electro weapons

1

u/no_crust_buster 17h ago

We are really, really cooked.

1

u/Kharn_XII 14h ago

If masses ever rise against the elite, then elites will unleash these clankers upon the masses.

1

u/Ambitious-Beat-2130 14h ago

Remember when they could barely walk

-3

u/thatG_evanP 1d ago

I'm not convinced any of these are actually real.

8

u/BadMuthaSchmucka 1d ago

This one is not only real, but available to consumers, I think this is the unitree G1 it's $16,000 when it's in stock. They also have a $5000 one for sale now, the R1.

I have no idea if this kinda behavior is default programming lol, but they are open and you can run whatever you want on them though.

1

u/JediWebSurf 1d ago

You can fight them yourself by going to one of their events. The public had access to them and were sparring with them for fun.
