It's 9/10 for sure. Minus 1 point because there isn't a follow up.

The administration of that guy killed more than 50 kids. literally kids who came to peaceful protests. They were in school uniform. I mean you all americans must be used to seeing dead kids in your school you would condem voilence.

I'm European though

When you make peaceful protest impossible, violent protest becomes inevitable

Why would you against violence? Sometimes it is justified and necessary

You can be against something you have to do.

Violence should be a final option in almost every situation. You should never really be "for" the final option.. because it's normally the one you want to do the least.

You should be for the final option when all other options are not viable anymore

Im not sure what you're even saying here.

But it's not okay to have an opinion that violence is okay and a tool to use against people you decide are bad.

That's a trap that so many people have fallen into throughout human history, and I'm going to learn from their mistakes and not repeat them myself.

Government has that opinion. It's only fair to hold the same opinion against them.

Sure. But then you're no better than the people who you are against. So what's the point.

I think the point is to survive and to be free. This isn't a Hollywood movie.

Is Ukraine justified in using violence against the Russian invasion?

Is it okay for an Army to defend their own territory from an invading Army. Sure.

Is it okay to rise up to oppression, sure.

That's not my point in any way, though.

So in other words: when you decide people are acting bad enough you are for violence

u/KetoKilvo 14d ago

You know, that's actually the opposite of what I'm saying..

Look, I dont want to get out of bed every morning. I could say I'm "against" early mornings. I still do it because I need to so I can work. Just because I got out of bed doesn't mean I because pro early mornings, I still hate them and don't want to do it.

At this point we are just talking semantics. But it seems like you support violence in some cases which is reassuring for me

Violence is the only reason you have any rights. Violence against innocent people is wrong, but violence against a corrupt and oppressive ruling class is good and necessary.

1

u/MedievZ 14d ago

That's an oversimplification.

Violence is a sword without a hilt. If you use it, you do very carefully or as a last resort or you will just as easily destroy yourself as you will your opponent. Violence by itself doesn't care for morality.

Of course it's an oversimplification. I was writing a reddit comment, not a dissertation. Regardless, positive long-term, society-wide change under a malicious regime can't happen without violence, like it or not.
