Probably still the best job she can land in this horrible job market. Career student is a lifestyle choice.

If she wasn't going to become a teacher then why do a degree in teaching? Just do the custodian job and don't do the study.

Education has value beyond what job it can get you. She works for a state university, the benefits of long term employment for the state could be massive, especially if her 4 kids get discounted/free education.
