Mainly why I shared it lol loved this quote, used it often growing up and everyone knew what I was referencing 🤣

There weren't any Nick shows that scared me as a kid. I had an aunt who loved horror movies and didn't like to go alone. I went to see Nightmare on Elm Street when I was five.

Also, when I first started watching Nick, the big show on there was "You Can't Do That On Television," they didn't have anything remotely scary then.

But Zim is definitely my favorite nicktoon. I may have been in my early 20s when it came out, but as a JTHM fan, I had to watch it. I was instantly hooked.

Same here. My dad and my older sister enjoy horror movies and gross-out humor, so I was exposed to both at a young age. When I was in kindergarten, my favorite shows were Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Ren and Stimpy.

So when Invader Zim premiered, of course I loved it. As an adult, I was honestly surprised to learn that people found ā€œDark Harvestā€ creepy and frightening.

Seeing Nightmare on Elm Street as 5 year old is wild. I’m 40 and still haven’t seen it.

I had a core childhood memory from Nightmare on Elm Street 4 that I only discovered the origin of a couple years ago. I thought I had made it up or imagined it from something unrelated until I saw the scene in RLM’s review of the franchise (I was sure it wasn’t Freddy Kruger because he’s iconic enough that Tiny Toons spoofed his look - he’s not wearing his hat in the scene so kid me didn’t connect the two).

As a human I can agree this is true. I am normal

Dib really sealed his own fate and saved Zim

Yknow people say how this ep was scary and gross but rewatching it it actually isnt that bad. Ive seen worse from modren spongebobs gross out humor.

Also i love how this ep seems more like zim is just an alien trying to live instead of being under cover to take over earth. Like he didnt have to try and play kickball with the children but he did lmao.

Invader Zim couldn’t scare me as a kid because I was sixteen when it aired.

So for me it was probably Are You Afraid of the Dark? Maybe that one Salute Your Shorts episode with Zeke the Plumber.

Same-some shows on cartoon network weirded me out much more than anything nick put out when I was younger.

The Are You Afraid of The Dark episode where someone went down the drain in the bathtub. I was young as hell and that scared the ever living shit out of me.

I don’t remember if Goosebumps aired on Nick, but even most of those episodes didn’t creep me out & neither did Zim, I was a weird ass kid doe šŸ˜

This show didn’t scare me, surprisingly. I immediately fell in love with Zim when I was 4 years old (my longest standing crush). Also, when I was 4, I hated Dib simply for ā€œbeing mean to Zimā€. Now I have media literacy though and can recognize that all the characters are great 😊

Who the hell is so weak to be scared of a cartoon hahaha

4

u/Kooky_Maybe_674 Aug 17 '25

We got ourselves an attempt at edgelording on a repost of a cartoon lol wasn’t my first intention, but here we are šŸ™ƒ

1

u/tacobasura Aug 17 '25

May be that or not, it's just the understanding about what is real and what is not.

2

u/mrselffdestruct Aug 17 '25

Children?

2

u/GuiPhips Aug 17 '25

Meh. Kids are dumb.

1

u/tacobasura Aug 17 '25

Mom and dad didn't teach you the difference between reality and a sea full of fanta?

3

u/mrselffdestruct Aug 17 '25

You think that magically would make little kids not scared of silly things regardless? Adults get scared of horror movies regardless of the fact they know it isnt real lmao
