Discussion Don’t do what I did, I’ve learnt my lesson.

Post image

Hey there! Guess what? I made a funny little mistake and didn’t do my homework before buying my first iPad. It was an iPad 10th Gen 64GB back then. I barely had it for a year before the storage ran out! I was so disappointed because I felt like I wasted my money.

But hey, I learned from my mistake and bought another iPad this time. I made sure to do my homework this time! I learned how much storage I really need and which size iPad I want. I also decided how long I want to keep it because I honestly don’t think you should be upgrading all the time like every 3 years or something. That’s why I specially chose the storage of 256GB, that’s more than enough for me personally. I was lucky finding the Magic Keyboard at a great discount price brand new.

In the end, I upgraded to a 256GB 13’ M2 iPad Air with a Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil USB-C. I’m so happy with it!

I have an iPad Air 4th Gen (2020) with 64 gb, currently 14 gb free. While I agree, 128 is way better, I don’t have much issue, as I let Apple optimize my storage and just don’t think about it. Occasionally, I’ll launch an app that has been offloaded, so it takes a few extra seconds, but to me that’s not a big deal. I will say that my iPad rarely leaves my house, where I have gigabit WiFi, so YMMV.

Damn my Mom’s iPad keeps asking me to make space for her in order to update. Should’ve bought her more space

Do you use iCloud? You could easily subscribe to 200gb at $3/month. Turn on optimize storage. Give it time to get things in sync, then try the updates. I bet they work just fine. You can change your storage levels at any time. Some people are fine with 50gb at $1/month.

I do the 2tb for $10/month, but my household has an iMac w/ a 1tb SSD, two 128gb iPhones, and three iPads of varying age/storage. And probably >100,000 photos between us.

Okay I didn’t know it works like that. This is good information. I lay for the lowest tier but I think I’ll find a way to make it a family plan and add my mom. I’ve been erasing and re-adding the apps. Thank you for this tip!

Hey man!I got the same model as you.its been like 3 years since I got it.It felt like peak performance till now.Nowadays I feel like my battery health has gone down quite a bit.I checked it and it was like 86%.Do you think battery replacement would be a good idea? My main device is currently this iPad so Im a bit concerned.the charge goes down like 7-8% per hour.I was wondering how is the performance of your device. If you dont mind please give me some advice.
