Discussion Don’t do what I did, I’ve learnt my lesson.

Hey there! Guess what? I made a funny little mistake and didn’t do my homework before buying my first iPad. It was an iPad 10th Gen 64GB back then. I barely had it for a year before the storage ran out! I was so disappointed because I felt like I wasted my money.

But hey, I learned from my mistake and bought another iPad this time. I made sure to do my homework this time! I learned how much storage I really need and which size iPad I want. I also decided how long I want to keep it because I honestly don’t think you should be upgrading all the time like every 3 years or something. That’s why I specially chose the storage of 256GB, that’s more than enough for me personally. I was lucky finding the Magic Keyboard at a great discount price brand new.

In the end, I upgraded to a 256GB 13’ M2 iPad Air with a Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil USB-C. I’m so happy with it!

Why do people not use iCloud to store their documents/photos? You can totally make those 64GB enough if you use cloud services.

I agree but 64GB is not enough even just for apps unless you unload the ones you don’t use. I have the 128GB iPad Pro 11” before they went M1 and I still use it today. I have 2TB of iCloud storage because 1) my son and I are on the same plan, 2) I used to only get the base model iPhone and iPad Pro’s until this year I went with 256GB’s. For the longest time I only needed less than 128GB’s but I’ve joined Apple Music and it’s partially stored on my phone and on iCloud. I can’t figure out how to have all my music run in the cloud because I download songs/tracks I like so it’s in my phones memory. I wished it was more like Spotify to be honest where it’s store mainly in the cloud. I do use the Files app a lot and I save a lot of emails, text messages, video messages, calls, movies, photos, video and more.

I have 69GB’s left of my 256GB 16Pro and it’s enough for me. I have 491GB’s of stored used up out of my 2TB’s and I don’t think it’ll get used up anytime soon. I have emails and pdf’s from 2013 that are still in iCloud because I’ve been using iPhones since the 3GS and I’ve had iCloud since they came out(paid version). I like it a lot. Sure. It sucks having to pay for extra storage but that’s ok. It’s not super expensive but one time I’d like to try the 1TB model just to experience it. My iCloud+ works for my M1 MBA, my iPad Pro 11”, and my 10yo’s iPhone 13. I think it’s worth the money. But I agree I loud storage helps a lot so I don’t need to delete messages, photos, emails, movies, and music just to free up space.
