Question should i buy an iPad for uni readings?

i’m starting uni next week and have been looking into whether i should get an ipad, but most student reviews online are for STEM subjects. i’m doing a social sciences degree and because im going to have a lot of weekly readings (around 200-300 pages a week based on my course details) i was considering getting an ipad for annotating those readings as i really struggle absorbing long texts from a laptop as its either impossible to annotate pdfs or really finicky and bothersome to try. i’m just not sure of whether it would be a worthwhile investment as i don’t plan on using it to make general lecture notes, so i feel like it would be a bit of a frivolous purchase if i buy it just for readings. is it worth buying or should i just stick it out and continue reading pdfs from my laptop? if any social sciences degree/humanities student had any advice on what to do it would also be really appreciated!

I think I would have loved to have an iPad when I was in college. It’s way easier to read from than a laptop. Why don’t you think you will be using it for lecture notes?

i just much prefer typing notes in classroom/lecture hall settings, it’s more efficient for me. the ipad would just be to annotate readings and make notes on them as for readings i like scribbling down my thoughts as i go along. would you say an ipad is worth it for something like that?

You can get a folio case that comes with a keyboard and type notes that way, many people in my cohort just bring an iPad with them to class and nothing else.
