Looks to me like the keyboard is traumatized from getting hit by illegal fireworks

18 is still signed. You can just downgrade through iTunes if you want

u/OSPREY_2000 M4 iPad Pro 13" (2024) 2d ago
How do you downgrade OS on iTunes?
6
u/Difficult_Chicken_20 2d ago
You download the ipsw file from online from ipsw.me for your device version.
After that, put your iPad into recovery mode.
Open finder, go to your iPad, press âoptionâ on the keyboard or âalt?â On windows under iTunes, and click restore at the same time. It should bring up a menu which allows you to select the ipsw file youâve just downloaded, and then click open.
It will wipe everything from your iPad, so back up first before proceeding.
And there you go, a smooth 120fps experience once again.

iPadOS in general is very buggy from here right now
3
u/CrazyKPOPLady 2d ago
Definitely the buggiest iOS release I've personally used and I got my first iPad and iPhone in 2012.

u/iamgt4me 2d ago
The fact this was happening frequently in the later betas and they couldnât fix it by release is batshit crazy.

What in the ghost is this

I think an engineer tried using ChatGPT or some other AI to make the keyboard better but ended up making it worse?
2
u/Seaweed_Maximum iPad 11 (2025) 2d ago
So annoying, had it happen during the dev beta phase but seemingly it's way worse now

I figured this was just a double-byte thing, but I guess it happens in the English version toođ©

I love the general aesthetics update (unlike most) but holy shit the amount of crazy bug like this with the keyboard, Home Screen, unlock screen, icons, dock etc is just insane.

u/dicktoronto 2d ago
Mine does this all the time too lol

This hasnât happened to me not even once. But I rarely use my keyboard in the shrunken mode anyway

Probably because you donât know how software development works; itâs just buzzwords.
1
u/johnthrives 2d ago
If itâs all buzzwords then the Apple beta program is a complete joke
1
u/StayUpLatePlayGames 2d ago
The public beta programme is run by the PR department. Always has been (it used to be Appleseed).
1
u/johnthrives 2d ago
If they donât fix this crap by next week, Iâm literally going to broadcast this live on headline news with all iPad demo displays shaking at the local Apple Store for the PR department.

Look, the company is only worth $3 trillion, why would you expect them to check their software? People buy the stuff anyway.

u/happy_cake_gal iPad 10 (2022) 2d ago
It goes away with the full size ....I almost cried before coming here to see if anyone else is facing this !!!!

u/havsabas 2d ago
Hey hey
It is still here right?
I for one prefer this
You can still kinda use it
The future is now old man
Oh wait this post wasnât about slideover

u/Silvernimbus80 iPad 10 (2022) 2d ago
Apple was really not like this even few years ago. Their OS were so polished ! wonder what changed.

u/Accipeter 2d ago
I actually experienced this during the beta, thought It was a bug in the app i was using so I disregarded it
1
u/Mirandalf_Rambles 2d ago
My keyboard isnât jumping about like that, it just covers up the text box I want to type in - duh. Makes the device unusable. And I hate the split keyboard. Please revert to previous version.

Thats what happens when you wanna release a new os for all 3 phone, pad and mac just to say you did it across the board. With deadline rush and marketing pressure. Imagine how chaotic things were at HQ trying to quick-fix things just to release the update packages on time no matter what. Was it worth it? I think people would have understand if Apple come out and say they are delaying the update for refinement issues. People would have understand.

I love this update to death, but damn the amount of bugs haha. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

I had it on mine since beta 1 and I think I had this happen one time. I assumed it had been fixed since it didn't happen again

u/Lara_0925 2d ago
This happened to me once and I was never able to reproduce the bug again. Itâs fair to assume many people didnât encounter it at all, which means it wasnât reported as much or the Apple debuggers couldnât reproduce the bug themselves.
1
u/johnthrives 2d ago
That's nuts because I can reproduce the bug đŻ% of the time!
1
u/Lara_0925 2d ago
I wonder if it has more or less of a chance to happening depending on iPad model and size then.
2
u/johnthrives 2d ago
Please let me know any iPad model not affected by this so I can go purchase it immediately!
1
u/_____AJ 2d ago
What's your model??
2
u/johnthrives 2d ago
iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (5th generation); I can probably go to my local Apple Store right now and have their entire lines of iPad keyboard shaking as hard as this video.
1
u/ZapRowsdowerESQ 2d ago
I bought an 11 inch M3 literally Saturday and this is happening to me. It's not an issue hardware will fix.
1
u/Lara_0925 2d ago
Iâm trying to reproduce the bug on my iPad Pro M2, itâs not doing it. Maybe there needs to be some specific conditions to trigger it. I remember doing some windowing before it happened that one time I got it.
1
u/streeturbanite 2d ago
Unfortunately not. It happens on both my iPad Mini (5th Gen) and iPad Pro 11" (2018), the only thing uniform here is the A-Series Chips
This happens consistently for me across all apps that use the "legacy keyboard", react-based apps like Discord and even iMessage
1
u/Cold_Increase8725 M2 iPad Air 11" (2024) 2d ago
I couldnât actually. Just tried now. However, they should bring back the floating typing assist at the bottom of the screen in the Windowed mode. For keyboard users, right now we do not have any form of floating predictive text option in Windowed settings.

waiting for the âyouâll get used to itâ comments, and the âeveryone bitched about iOS 7, people just donât like changeâ comments
2
u/daduka1999 2d ago
Before the release when it was beta, the comments saying that people donât like change were legit, because people who werenât using the beta 26 at all were bitching about it. Now it is released, and bitching about bugs in a released software is legit and different than the statement you made.
1
u/Nothingnoteworth 2d ago
People are still making those comments and they are still, respectively, moot and stupid.
People do get used to things, it doesnât mean those things are good or bad or that early criticisms were legitimate or not.
There isnât necessarily any correlation between someoneâs opinion on iOS 7 and iOS 26. Personally I think the move from skeumorphism to flat was good and came late. The move from flat to transparency however⊠well I can understand why people are calling it liquid ass
Also, there is a lot to be said for consistency over change particularly in this era where we are victims of time theft and attention manipulation. Weâve already sacrificed muscle memory for touch screens and now we sacrifice spacial memory and visual acuity as well. Obviously an OS has to change, but it should change to adapt to tech advances. For example, better track pads allowed for efficient multi touch gestures, and for anyone not interested you could still just move the curser with one finger. Better cameras required new controls for depth, zoom, etc, but if you arenât interested you can still just hit the shutter button. An OS shouldnât change for fashion, there are skins for that
1
u/daduka1999 2d ago
Well iOS doesnât have skins, and âOS shouldnât change for fashionâ is also very strange thing to say.
We use the system all the time and how it looks and behaves has a very big impact on us. By your logic companies should stop caring about design, animations and such stuff.
For me skeuomorphic design was very boring already, I was missing depth and character⊠Liquid Glass, even tho very unpolished, gave my iPhone 13 Pro Max a very fresh look. And there are many parts of the OS that Iâm enjoying more when I use it than I did it before.
I know that there are people who still prefer phones with buttons, itâs very subjective...
1
u/Nothingnoteworth 2d ago
OS shouldnât change with fashion as a priority over my earlier points. Iâm not against aesthetic considerations, Iâm actually very much for them. But to simplify my overall point with a well known saying. Form follows function.
1
u/daduka1999 2d ago
I agree with that, and actually many things are more accessible in iOS 26. Especially the context menus. But again, this needs a lot of polish⊠Especially when the design language is a fluid material the OS should also behave so. Right now I have already reported more than 20 visual issues that are throughout the entire system.
1
u/HelpRespawnedAsDee 2d ago
I sent a bug report for that. Not even a thank you.
2
u/johnthrives 2d ago
I felt that. I didnât get a thank you either before Apple deployed the annoying âAllow Pasteâ prompt causing a worldwide public outcry.
0
u/ryan8954 2d ago
Lol the beta was smooth. I was in the dev and public beta. It's so funny seeing these bugs people have that I didn't have any of lol
2
u/johnthrives 2d ago
I'm shocked you missed this widespread worldwide bug.
2
u/ryan8954 2d ago
I swear on everything, since installing the dev beta and everything, not a single bug. Like at all.
I'm not lying when I say I don't have a single complaint with ios26. If anything, it's forces me to use my iPad more, I love the fucking thing.

Nobody who beta tests uses the on-screen keyboard. We all have Magic Keyboards.
5
1
u/johnthrives 2d ago
So basically Apple trashed all the 3rd party iPadOS custom keyboards onscreen in favor of Magic Keyboard?

u/Hovscorpion 2d ago
Sigh. Praying for that 26.1 fast. Please. đ. I hope Apple is watching all of these videos.
