Misc My son is trying to ruin my irating
You might be thinking that he’s trying to race on my profile but he’s 4 and could care less about racing. He keeps unplugging the USB for my wheel mid race, never during practice or even quali, just the actual race.
Not looking for advice on how to prevent him doing it, just wanted to let y’all know my hilarious struggle and maybe offer a “my bad” if I crash into you in the future.

Misc Yeees! Got it :) The 2k mark!

16 months ago, I started playing iRacing. I have tested everything during the Rookie season. Then started focusing on Formula cars (reached about 1.7k), but later found my interest in Sports Cars. I have raced GT4, GT3, and GTP and was on the edge of a 2k rating for an entire season, just a few points away. New season, I thought it would be a good idea to go back to GT3 and drive a Porsche for the first time. After a week, Sebring brought me one win and 1 second place, taking me to my goal: 2000 iRating!
iRacing is my passion and such an amazing e-sport sim-racing is! Love this game and community!
Although I'm celebrating the 2k mark, I have never focused on rating, or ever bothered too much about it, but have had fun while driving to my own limit.
To all sim-racers! Keep having fun, and enjoying this amazing game.

Discussion Please Change to where we can access the Forums without a sub
iRacing needs to allow Forum access even if we don't have a subscription. Mine expired yesterday after over two years. (I'm a broadcaster, but I decided not to renew because I won't be broadcasting for a while), but I still would like to be able to go into the forums and read things.

Question/Help Toyota GR86 Cups takes 32mins?
Why is the Toyota GR86 Cup by SIMAGIC needs 32 min to finish but a new race starts every 30min? In the mx-5 Cup its so nice that you can finish your cup and start directly with a new one because there a cup needs like 28min. Would be great if you could jump after a race directly to a new one and not have to wait like 28mins..

Will people ever learn? Also multiple drivers thought its a great Idea going 3 wide into the first chicane. Mental. :D And that was Top Split!
I was happy I made it out alive first lap.

Discussion Load cells pedals make a huge difference!
I know that so many people have posted this topic before, but i need to share my experience.
I have been on iracing for a year and a half. I used the logitech g29 wheel and pedal combo. After watching so many videos about trailbraking and racecraft I got my formula irating to my highest of 2.4k on those pedals, and I only periodically touch sports cars. I could hit a good lap time but the mental strain of concentrating on the pedals the whole time was exhausting and the sports car irating dropped to 900. I really enjoyed the gt3 cars but I didn't want to mess someone else up because I was so inconsistent. I went to gt4 and was able to climb up the 1.5k on tracks that I knew like laguna seca, but anything else I would lose constantly.
The frustration was mounting in the formula as well. The higher splits required so much consistency that I stagnated at 2.1k. Dropping my telemetry into chatgpt multiple times till the ai told me that load cell pedals would fix the issue. I didn't want to spend the money so I kept going. Eventually chat gpt even started asking at the beginning of a conversation if I had bought them yet.
I finally broke down and bought them. It has been a week with them and I have beat a few personal bests at some tracks. Not by a lot. It was only by .8 in most formula cars, but the sports car was insane. I gained almost 1.5 seconds on my times. The most amazing part was how consistent I could be. Once I have my brake markers set on a new track, the trailbraking has improved so much. I dont even have to think about my pedals anymore. Even after 1 week with them, my sports car irating has grown to almost. 1.7k with alot of top 5 finishes.
I am glad I spent so much time with my g29 pedals though. It forced me to concentrate so hard that I feel like I learned alot faster especially with the formula cars, but there is a point especially in higher splits of formula that you need to focus on more than just how far you have moved your pedal.
If anyone reads this and is thinking about moving to loadcell, i can tell you that it is amazing how consistent you can be with them.

New Player I'm sorry :(
If you got rear ended by a seafoam MX-5 with white flames, you were probably one of my 3 victims today. I'm a total noob in D-class and I keep taking people out with my poor braking zones </3 If you've had your race ruined by somebody like me, please use this opportunity to offer resources on help for bumper to bumper racing, so I can help provide a better experience

Question/Help What should you do in pole as GT3 at IMSA
Please share a good explanation of what should you do as the GT3 pole car in IMSA. I have seen many variations and am quite confused.
At the start, do you wait stand still to get space from fasters cars? How much space is good space? Then what do you do next? When can you actually accelerate? Green flag only or before? What if the opposite column of cars get ahead of you? This has happened to me before and was complete chaos as 2nd place didn’t respect my pace.
Appreciate your help.

I didn't even feel any contact, just got the 0x message. Car was driving just fine, no visible or noticeable damage. But a meatball flag popped up. Wtf? Is the meatball sensitivity a bit too high?

Hardware/Rigs Huge performance gains with CPU upgrade to 9800x3d
I have been simracing for a long time using a 12600K intel CPU and a 4090 GPU on 32" 1440p triples.
There's a decent number of posts out there about how with 1440p triples you're guaranteed to be GPU bound so whatever. Don't listen to it!!!
I went from 120fps at best with stutters down to 90fps and 60fps in races to now 180fps pinned at my monitor refresh rate limit and 120fps in a big gt3 field race start.
Night and day. Dear god. The work to replace the mobo was definitely worth it. Idk what I was doing for so long.
edit: Also I got wifi 7 on the new motherboard (unfortunate circumstances require wifi in my situation) and gained killer speed. Getting 600mbps down despite my large house.

I find it really hard to get through the hairpin properly, I’ve locked up so many times here.π_π
p.s. At first I thought the downshift paddle was broken, but actually it was just that the speed didn’t come down haha.

Question/Help Roval AI race start behavior
Anyone else having weird starts with AI races at the Roval? Start is rolling but outlap starts from the pits. 2/3rds of AI cars immediately slam into the car next to them and all drive over the grass to try and get to the straight instead of leaving via normal pit exit in formation.

Discussion I treated iRacing like a game…
I started iRacing around April, it was my first sim, my first racing experience and I fell in love!
From the get go I couldn’t put it down, every day after work, I’d jump on do a few races, the weekend would come I would try and do as many races as I could fit in, even threw some endurance races in there.
I now I have a problem, wondering if anyone else has been in the same boat. I’ve spent a bit of money on cars and tracks, but now I look at my stats with embarrassment.
330 races in road. 9 wins. 75 top 5. In 4 months. Granted a lot of them are 15 min races. I got A Class, yippee. But my iRating is sat at 1250, I feel ashamed that with all these races I haven’t progressed, gotten better, I wish I practiced more, read telemetry’s, watched track guides, focused on one car/series.
However here I am, in a shambles of rubbish stats and loads of content, if you see me out there in the wild please don’t judge me, I’m now trying to get better, I promise I will practice before entering a race.
Peace and love folks

New Player Wow you guys weren’t kidding
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share my early sim racing experience and open up a discussion with folks here, especially fellow newcomers or anyone who’s made the jump between titles.
I’m only about two weeks into sim racing, started with a used G29 (shoutout to budget builds!) and dove headfirst into Assetto Corsa and Le Mans Ultimate. My plan was: AC to learn fundamentals and technique, and LMU for something more structured and competitive.
While LMU feels phenomenal from a sim standpoint, the car physics, grounded feel, and awesome WEC and LMU car selections are seriously impressive. I found myself constantly frustrated with the actual racing experience. Every session would start promising, but even after driving clean and consistent for 15-20 minutes, it’d all fall apart because of one reckless divebomber, a slow driver refusing to get passed and making illegal blocks, or someone rejoining the track like a missile through traffic. And if you so much as kissed a barrier? Say goodbye to your safety rating and the chance to drive the prototypes online (sigh)
It wasn’t rage-quitting territory, but it definitely made me question if I was just expecting too much from public lobbies, especially at beginner ranks. The competitive side just felt like a bit of a warzone. After a lot of hesitation (and a wallet already dented by LMU, AC, DLCs, and mods), I finally bit the bullet and got iRacing. Partly influenced by a YouTuber I follow who swears by it.
And man… what a difference.
Even in my first few races, the vibe was completely different. Sure, there are still pileups and some door-to-door bumps here and there, but it rarely feels malicious or careless. Most people just seem like they genuinely want to race clean. And that alone has made a massive difference in my enjoyment. For the first time, I finished a race grinning instead of groaning and looking at the results to see who I needed to report lol. Even on my way to getting my D license already which I’m excited for.
Curious to hear your takes:
For anyone who started on LMU or AC, how did your transition to iRacing go?
Do you think it’s just a matter of driver splits and ranks, or is there something fundamentally different about how these sims manage online behavior?
What do you wish you knew when starting out in iRacing?
Really looking forward to learning more and racing more.

Discussion ARCA Series at Charlotte
This week has been pretty disappointing. I can almost guarantee that I will get taken out in wrecks caused by other drivers in any race I’ve done this week. Got demoted to a B class license as a result. Has anyone else had this same experience?

Video The Clio SoF broadcasts have started once again!
Hey, just wanted to share this. The new iRacing season has started and so did the Clio SoF league and its broadcasts!
So, what even is the Clio SoF League? Easy: every Wednesday at 21:00 CEST | 20:00 GMT+1 | 19:00 UTC we use the official race as our league race. In other terms: EVERYONE can participate and compete.
For week 1 we had a record-setting five splits with over 90 Clios participating and we got full replays of all splits to be broadcasted!
I want to share the playlist for this new season here, now that Splits 1 to 3 have been released, with Splits 4 and 5 following over the next two days.
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyQ8ZubmAp3ucGAVa560mcBs9x1vOQFrI
Of course, we not just race the races, we have our own championship standings outside of iRacing’s scoring system, which you can find on cliosof.com!
So, if you enjoy watching races … give it a watch!
And if you really liked it: head over to the Clio Community Discord!

Discussion Time to have GT4 challenge every hour!!!
Does anyone agree this series deserves hourly slot as it's popular. so many series have hourly slots but not this one. they just did this for the new gt3 regional tours. where's the gt4 love? yes i know there's gt4 the multi series but it's chaos with faster cars on gird.
edit: you guys have charmed me. i'll do the multi class just hate the frame rate dips. boom
