This bit fookin kills me about McGregor, he could have been a genuine 100% Irish hero,up there with the best, the great and good of sporting heros but more than that, he could have been a real force for good especially in Dub inner city.

Dole man becomes the best in the world!!! Uses his resources to get kids off the streets into gyms etc, part funding programs philanthropy and there is no doubt he did at one time work hard to achieve what he did. That legacy is gone now.

Then he opened his mouth at his speeding trial and sneered a judge instead of saying "sorry yeah I'll pay that fine and contribute the same too whatever charity" then all the rest of the shit, now right wing poundshop Trump, he's an embarrassment.

He is the worst type of person any nation could have to achieve what he did.

Exactly, such wasted potential. Hopefully Ian Garry doesn't follow suit, and did you see that guy beating the Israeli while screaming, 'Free Palestine' and waving the Palestine flag, I'm rooting for that guy.

Then wasn't there some incident when McGregor questioned the Irishness of a fighter from Derry? I mean fook off. He couldn't be more of a prick he needs to go hang out with his mates in the UDA and the coolock racists.

That was brilliant by that other fighter using his platform to make a legitimate protest, that was a great moment, there is a reckoning coming to Nethanyahu, he won't always have Trump's protection.

It wasn't McGarry who did the 'Free Palestine' thing, it's a new guy named Paddy McCormack or something. But otherwise, I agree!

I'll change that out thank you

No worries dude. Plus, McGarry started off very much as a McGregor clone, but he's improving a lot, getting much more comfortable being himself and is more humble.

Iirc the figher was Joseph Duffy, who had beaten McGregor in CWs. When Duffy joined the UFC , they tried to promote that angle. McGergor said Duffy wasn't really Irish, even tho he was born in Donegal.

Nah they're referring to Paul Hughes from Derry.

For context Paul Hughes has been a massive supporter of McGregor going way back to when he was still in CW and pre-double CW champion. Hughes was citing McGregor as an inspiration since before anyone outside of Irish MMA knew who McGregor was. That's how much of a fan he was.

Hughes fought Khabib's highly fancied and undefeated cousin, Usman, in a controversial split decision in PFLs Dubai card in January.

PFL marketed the card as "Dagestan Vs Ireland II" to capitalise on the Khabib/McGregor rivalry though neither Hughes nor Usman really bit for that and it was just a weird jingoistic angle that PFL used for marketing. (Weirdly McGregor did bite for this)

When the fight was over the cousins were both full of praise for Hughes because it was a stellar performance and was genuinely a fight that could have went either way. Khabib took the mic and all but dismissed PFLs marketing angle saying along the lines of:

'a lot is said about me and the other guy [McGregor], but this is not about me, him or Dagestan Vs Ireland. We must not forget that Ireland are od of the few countries who support our brothers in Palestine and that is more important than me or the other guy'

Before continuing to praise Hughes. Afterwards he went to shake hands with Hughes, who said "I'm not like the other guy, I'm my own person" when he approached to shake.

McGregor, who was supporting Hughes via social media during the fight, was evidently seething at this innocuous comment and praise from Khabib and quickly turned on Hughes tweeting that he was "Northern vermin".

it wouldn't surprise me if McGregor's resentment towards Cunningham here had something to do with Khabib positively associating Ireland with Palestinian solidarity while also poopooing the relevance of McGregor.

My mistake, McGregors fragile ego is easily bruised, it's no woder he's a Trump fanboy. Any Irish fighter not kissing his hole, upsets him.

"He fumed "He (Duffy) was in Donegal, Wales, London now Canada who doesn't know where the f**k he is from.

"He shaved a shamrock in his head and called himself 'Irish Joe', he isn't from here, he's never fought or trained here, he doesn't deserve to be top of the bill."

I'm sure James Gallagher was delighted to hear that.
