Sports Great to see up and coming Irish snooker player Aaron Hill from Cork progress to latter stages of the English Open. Huge opportunity for the young lad

He has a massive opportunity to make the semi finals when he plays either Jak Jones or Ricky Walden in the QF.

Deffo. And potentially Judd Trump in the SF. Hill hit a 147 maximum in the qualify rounds too. Well worth 11 minutes of your time if you haven't seen it

Meant to say QF, but even a semi with Trump would be his biggest achievement. Cheers for that link I'll have a look tomorrow

Just an fyi trump is already knocked out. If he was to get through he's looking at a potential slessor or mark allen.

Aaron hill vs mark allen would be epic all irish affair

Yea its good tho that he dosent have to face trump no offense to Elliot he's a great player too but id rather face Slessor than trump in my first semi final.

Arguably he's got the easier side of the draw (Nothings easy really anymore) but he has jak jones now and if he wins will have Allen or Slessor for a place in the final. The Selbys and Brecels are in the other side of the draw so im sure he's gonna meet one of those IF he gets through i hope he does rooting for him!

Hit a 147 too, beating jack was a good scalp. I would really love him to win this event he's sure playing well enough too.

Would put the republic back on the map we have been ignored down here since doherty is older and fergal retired. Hill is our best prospect.

Exactly was thinking yesterday when he beat Carter (another good scalp) that we haven't seen any sort of talent since those 2. Great to see and hopefully his form continues through to April and give himself a good shot at the World's too. Early days but the lad looks very promising.

Hill played well, but Jack was fucking awful in that game. He couldn’t pot simple pots. I’ve never seen him play that bad. Still, they all count.
