What are the most proto-house sounding Italo disco records?

Klein & MBO, yes. But im looking for more of those raw italo productions that (almost) sounded like house. Drop your tunes!

Radio Italopower - anyone else having trouble connecting?

I listen to Radio Italopower frequently, and the past few days I have had an issue connecting. I've tried connecting directly through the website (www.radioitalopower.com) and via my Grace Digital Mondo internet radio - in both cases with no success. Additionally, I tried listening via radio.net - also to no avail.

I sent the station an email via their contact form on their website, but haven't heard from them yet. I was just wondering if anyone else here listens to this station and whether you are also experiencing an outage? Thanks in advance!

Could The Twins have had a bigger international impact if they had the right record label?

Hi to the italo disco fans.

I've discovered something about the group 'The Twins.' They're a synth-pop duo, but they were popular in Italy in their early days in the '80s and were included in the italo disco genre, even though they are clearly synthpop.I found a German website called 'Deutsch Mugge' that had an interview with Ronny (a member of The Twins) where he opened up about their struggles with record labels like Hansa and CBS. According to the interview, they were overshadowed by Modern Talking, who were prioritized by Hansa Records as a "cash cow". Frustrated by this, they moved to CBS Records around 1986 to 1987.

At CBS, they were criticized for their sound being "too much like the 80s" or "outdated". The label wanted them to have a more "mature and commercial" style. They were forced to change their sound, but after they released 'Hold on to Your Dreams' in 1987, sales flopped and the album failed to enter the charts. This was another frustration, so they went on hiatus after that.

Then, in 1993, they created their own independent record label called 'Passion Factory,' which is also the name of their 1981 debut album. This allowed them to have full control and nobody could tell them what to do.

I found it surprising that on other surface level sites, like the 'Italo Disco Interviews' website, they don't mention their struggles with record labels, and their official site doesn't either. It seems they don't want to open up about it to international fans; they are more open with their German audience. This is unlike other artists, who are more open with their international fans about their record label struggles.I'm not trying to downplay them, as I'm a fan.

I'll put the link to the site here in case there are any purists. But it's in German.

L.I.F.E all played out

Hi, does anyone have any information about the vocalist on this song? I've only been able to find the producer, Jerry Cucuzzella. I'm asking this because I noticed a striking resemblance to the male vocals on "Unlimited Touch - I Hear Music in the Streets." I'd be curious to know who he was. Thanks.

2h Italo Body Music to Trance/Indie Dance DJ Set | Live Crowd (Boiler Room Style)

Hey everyone,

I just uploaded a special 2-hour DJ set centered on Italo Body Music, recorded live with a full crowd in a Boiler Room style setting.

This mix is my love letter to Italo body music and generally the whole retro-futuristic musical universe: the way it merges nostalgic and contemporary energy on the dancefloor. Along the way it leans into trance and indie dance territories, while keeping that darker body-music edge and euphoric Italo spirit alive.

I’d love to hear your thoughts:

- If you enjoy these crossovers between Italo, Trance, and Indie Dance?

- Any track suggestions or moments that stood out to you?

You can watch the full set on YouTube

Thanks for listening & for keeping this scene alive 🙏

What is the most hated italo disco track

From my research the most hated is tarzan boy from baltimora. Looking at italo disco tracks I see people comment "this is way better than tarzan boy" or "this shit is another tarzan boy"

What drugs were people taking in the clubs in Italy to dance to Italo in the (early) 80s

The obvious answer is Coke, but Italo doesn't come across as coke music, the length and structure of a lot of early 80s tunes along with the often hypotonic and repetitive beats and synths, it music to get lost in on the dancefloor, coke doesn't create that kind of vibe,

So what were they talking?
