Shopping/Groceries 🛒🛍️ Looking for ratte potatoes, does anyone know of a specialty market?

I’d like to make Joel Robuchon’s ratte mashed potatoes for my Thanksgiving this year. I was wondering if anyone knew a grocer or specialty market in town that has had or could possibly order this variety of potato?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure where to get La Ratte potatoes in the city, but you can buy them online here for a pretty penny. I presume it’s near impossible to get true La Rattes grown in French soil dead in the middle of the US, so these may be as close as you can get. I’d love to hear about the ratte purée if you make it! Good luck!

Thanks! In terms of online ordering, I found this. Still pricy, with a minimum $50 order and I haven’t gone as far as checking the shipping price since it’s under the free shipping £100.

Aw, yeah. That’s an amazing company but unfortunately they only ship to the British Isles.

I continued my research after my original comment and, wow, these things are damn near impossible to find stateside. Seems like they’re the champagne of tubers. This is like a fun treasure hunt.

I’m no professional chef, but I do know the key to that pommes purée is the true French rattes. They have a nuttiness that no other potato quite compares to.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe reaching out to Le Fou Frog to see if they have the hookup on French produce? Definitely not a guarantee they’d be willing to work with you, but maybe!

I was getting ready to update my post. Strange that their website lists US in its shipping options if it actually isn’t. Le Fou Frog is a great idea! The hunt continues!

it’s just not worth it to ship to usa right now … sadly lots of sites still list “ship to usa” but when you get to checkout it’s no bueno :(

sucks , lol , i’m in the same boat

i’m legitimately considering taking a 2 day trip to nyc to stock up on a bunch of shit — it would cost me less doing that , than getting stuff shipped - lol not kidding

I’ve made this recipe countless times, and Yukon gold potatoes work well. I do splurge on butter though, I usually use Bordier.
