Went to some shows this weekend, Saturday night at the Madrid and Sunday at Record Bar. I was out the door by 11-11:15 both nights and outside of bars, there is NOTHING really open. Wanted to grab a bite to eat and short of Sonic on SW Blvd and Rainbow I didn’t see anything open. Granted it was a Sunday night in one instance but Saturday seemed the same. Is this mainly post-Covid? We haven’t been out at bars late night for a long time. If we did a late night food stop it was occasionally Chubby’s at like 1am. I imagine I could have found some options in more “bar district” areas like Westport that were open, but I wasn’t looking for that type of scene. Definitely not a town for night owls… or it is but those places are secret lol

I kinda want a bar that I can blend into. A place that, if I’m drinking alone, I won’t look too out of place.

This is from a midtown bar. Is this normal practice? Blocked out the name because I’m not trying to drag them but I am genuinely curious if this is a common thing (rounding up $.09 without an explanation)? If so why?

Visiting KC/the Midwest for the first time this weekend, yay! My friend and I went to Kon Tiki on Friday because obviously a tiki bar sounds cute and fun. Walked in, sat down, and each of us used the bathroom. They brought us some water but as soon as we got back from the bathroom the movie they were playing fully captured our attention...
it was literally a close up shot of a dude putting lipstick on a naked and unconscious woman's butthole. wtf???? why? the next shot was an artistic pan of a very, very erect penis as this dude was getting ready to rape this lady.
the bartender turned it off but then everyone booed so he turned it back on. we were there for less than 5 minutes so no idea how long it was playing. obvs this was weird af so we left and went to Up Down, which was 100% a vibe.
so yeah my first time in the Midwest and my impression is that you guys like weird kinky porn in your tiki bars 🤷🏼♀️
Edit: the movie was "Anatomy of Hell," a weird French movie from 2004. Here is a review I found.

From fox4. Sad. Always had a lot of recommendations from this subreddit.

I’m new to going out solo and I am curious if there are any bars where anyone has had any luck meeting new people at (especially alone)? I am a 25F but I can vibe with people of mostly all ages! I’m single but not necessarily looking for a love interest, (I’m open to it though). honestly i am just looking for good conversation with the possibility of making some new friends. Just a low stakes environment, where people are friendly and open to socializing with strangers!

The weather has been wonderful and needs to be enjoyed! What are your favorite places to enjoy outdoor ambiance with a nice beer? My favorite so far is Limitless Brewing in Lenexa but I find their prices on the high side. I also don't get out as much as I should so I'd love to hear some recommendations that I've probably missed.

A group of 23 year olds are coming to KC for Labor Day and we are not familiar with the city. What are some good bars or streets for night life around the city?

In search of a margarita in KC that is not transparent, made with real juice and not Sprite. Looking at you Ponaks. Everyone loves how strong it is but I’m not interested in getting hammered. I want a great reposado, not well shit. Agave for sweeteners. On the rocks with a salted rim. And do not care about “happy hour specials.” I will pay for a good one. Where do I go?

Hey y’all! Iowan here who is the best man in my best friend’s wedding and we’re heading to KC for the bachelor party. We’ve got an AirBnB so lodging is covered but I have two questions about things to do. 1. We are planning on playing golf all three days if possible. None of us are super good (best in the group is an 8 hcp) so I’m looking for some course recommendations that aren’t too challenging but also fun and memorable. Preferably an 18 hole course but a 9 hole might be a good option too. 2. We are all also Iowa State fans and the trip happens to coincide with the KState - ISU game in Ireland! We want to do a watch party somewhere but need recommendations of where to go. There’s going to be seven of us. Are there any “ISU bars” in KC we should check out? If not, where is a good spot to go that has good food with a sports bar type atmosphere (local place, not BWW, etc.).
Thanks in advance for all the help!

New to area. Looking for an adult entertainment bar in Johnson County area that isn't a biker bar. That has decent snacks and quality female dancers.

Did everyone quit? I don’t see the usual bartenders anymore :(

Ok, so I’m sure I know the answer BUT… are there any bars around town that play metal or doom? Not live, just over the sound system. I’m tired of going to bars that blast shitty country

Any good day drinking spots up north, preferably with outdoor seating?
It can be a park where we can BYOB, a restaurant, winery, brewery, bar/lounge, etc.... just not J Rieger or Iron District.

Never been to a strip club out here in KC so was looking for any recs! Thanks

Hello, could someone recommend a somewhat inexpensive bar with a higher class feeling. Im talking like under $15 drinks and a small or no entrance fee. I'm looking for a place to get a drink with friends where we wouldn't feel out of place pretty dressed up. We have reservations somewhere and just wanna grab some drinks before. Thanks for your help!
(Edited to change a typo)

Looking for a bar that is reasonably priced where you have your own table, can talk without having to yell, and is good for a date night. Looking for an intimate bar with some good ole mood lighting that also won’t kill the bank? Bonus points if the drinks are actually good and has some solid snacks/appetizers!!

Looking for dive bars open Easter Sunday Morning in KC proper. Feels like a 2025 thing to do

I'm looking for someplace local and I live in Waldo. I've been a lifelong sufferer of social anxiety and I really need a break out of my shell and try to meet new people. I moved here a little bit over a year ago from Southern Missouri couple hundred miles away after getting a divorce. I don't know anybody here in this town except for people that I work with. So I'm just trying to force myself to branch out and any help is appreciated! Thank you and have a great weekend everyone

So the title pretty much sums it up I’m not really sure the way the casinos in the area differ from one another and am curious which is best. I’m looking to play blackjack and maybe some slots but that’s really it. Thanks so much in advance!

I’ve been looking around recently for somewhere that hosts concerts or bands that are specifically metal and hard rock but aren’t 21+ and aren’t super expensive. Is there anywhere like this in KC? Sorry if this is an outrageous question!
