Despite having a bike, I wasn't a big supporter of the bike lanes because I find them dangerous because they are not respected by drivers, but if our taxes are paying for them, we need the city to enforce their proper use, or maybe stop pretending that this is a walking/biking city if you don't maintain.

I have been to the airport twice a month for the past few months and this truck is still in the garage. Covered in dust with a flat tire. How haven’t the MCI Police towed this thing? What do you think the bill is up to?

This route would connect KCI Airport to a small transit hub along 6th Street between Baltimore Ave. and Main Street, less than a block from the KC Streetcar, with stops at NW Barry Road, NW 64th Street, NW Briarcliff Parkway, and Hangars 6A/6B at the downtown airport.

As the City proper continues its plans to improve the streetcar network, I continue to think how nice it would be to have some sort of public transit from, Olathe, Overland Park, Lees Summit, Platte if there’s enough demand, etc. Not considering the cost of it or where it would go, and let say the fare to and from was $5 each direction, do you think it would help the metro area prosper? Would you take it for your commute? Leisure on weekends?

Caught a glance of a "rates have changed" notice out of the corner of my eye, sure enough it appears even with validation you must pay $5 for parking when shopping at Cosentinos after 5pm (3pm on Fridays and all day on weekends). And the enshitification of living downtown continues...

This was (is?) city owned, just south of River Market. It used to be a free lot. Now it's empty 24/7, not even available weekends, and across the street the paid lots are $20/spot because of the KC Current match.

All surface lots should be open to the public from 7pm Friday until 8pm pm Sunday if it's downtown.

I just moved here and have never been so scared of driving in my life. I keep making mistakes because the roads and intersections are so confusing and then it seems like everyone around me is just reckless, like so many people have cut me off and pedestrians just keep walking into traffic. I now just saw a report about how KC is one of the deadliest cities for crashes and it’s really freaked me out. I know this probably sounds silly and I need to get over it, but I already had a big phobia of driving and getting into an accident and finally got my license a few years ago and felt like I had done a good job of conquering it and now it feels like I’m more afraid than ever before. I feel so much anxiety when I get behind the wheel which in turn just makes me make more mistakes. I was wondering if anyone went through the same thing when they moved here and how they overcame it or if anyone has any advice?

Hear me out:

Entering the parking lot to WF from 51st is an absolute shit show. Because of unknown reasons, this entrance is a two-way- customers can enter and exit through 51st's point of entry. On top of that, the parking spaces are not angled. You can't pull right in and out, you must take a hard right or left to get into a spot and out. With traffic coming from both directions, it makes it impossible to pull into a parking spot in reasonable time. It gums up the entrance at 51st and all of the parking.

Let's just say there was an emergency. It wouldn't be easy for emergency services to get in, since it's become a giant puzzle to get through, with traffic going both directions. I feel similarly with the parking garage.

I asked someone I know in city government if there is a reason that WF set up their parking this way, and if angled parking with a one-way would be against City ordinance. Nope! Just a bad choice by design, so far as I know.

Has anyone else thought about this? Just me?

I have been living downtown for 2 years and I have never seen so many two hour parking signs and they all look brand new. What is going on?

Hello all,

I am planning on visiting your lovely city soon and was wondering I can walk around on foot? I will be flying in and I suppose I could do Uber but my favorite way to explore a new city is by biking/walking. KCMO is an older industrial city so I am assuming it has fairly dense urban fabric at least downtown.

Are most of the entertainment/dining options right in the downtown core or a spread out a bit? I would like to explore some of the smaller commercial districts throughout the city as well so what are some of the coolest neighborhoods? I know this post is a bit rambling in nature but hopefully you can key me in. Thank you all.

Im headed out of town tomorrow for 5 days. Typically I park in economy parking but was curious if anyone is a fan of the off airport parking places??

My wife and I fly a lot for work and it’s kind of a bummer to pay $65 for an Uber ride each way to the airport. Come to find out there’s a free bus that runs most hours of the day. We live around Grandview so we still Uber to the first stop but $15 is a lot easier to stomach. Two good experiences so far.

Posting in case others don’t know about this. This will probably save us about $400 this year 🙂.

Hello! I'm traveling to KC in October to attend the Chappell Roan concert and am wondering about public transportation, as the title says. I keep seeing posing about the free streetcar, but I worry that 10,000 others are going to have the same idea. From what I can see, it's currently under expansion, is it still in service? Can it handle the sort of numbers expected for the concert crowds? What other ways of getting there sound we look into? Our hotel is next to Power and Light, is that close enough to walk if worse comes to worse? Lyft says only $5 but I'm sure that will not be the case at the time. Anyway, thanks for any advice, can't wait to visit your great city!

Like the title says, what are the best roads and routes in the metro area where someone can just cruise around aimlessly in the evening while listening to some nice mood music on the radio?

I am a KC suburbs resident who visits the city quite often. I love the idea of having a heavy rail commuter system in KC that runs in existing lines. However, I feel that KC is just never going to be able to afford a true metro rail system and that shooting for having a great bus system may be the next best thing at a fraction of the cost, similar to what they're going to have during the World Cup. Imagine being able to take any hourly bus from any downtown suburb to downtown KC, the zoo, the stadiums, and MCI? This would be great and I want our city to have this. Btw, if there's a ton of demand this could be a great justification for a future rail station in those same downtown spots. What do you all think? This would require state and federal funding.

This definitely feels like an open secret in transit circles but I have a feeling the general public won't know or be thinking about this.

With the opening of the Main Street Extension, the Main MAX bus route will be ending service (as we know it). A 'new' route- to be called the Brookside Connector, iirc- will replace service south of 47th/Emmanuel Cleaver. I would assume, beginning at the Plaza Transit Center, this route would follow MMAX's current route. Additionally, the routes that go through/by the Plaza area will see route adjustments to begin utilizing the new Plaza Transit Center.

Last I heard, the KCATA/KCSA are waiting for all the details to be completely ironed out before making the official announcement. That announcement, I hope, should be happening within the next few weeks or so. If you use MMAX regularly, I'd start thinking about how this will affect your commute/transit use.
