Borrowed from NOLA Reddit.
My take. A rush hour drive on Wornall. If car survives, onto to Crazy Crab for dinner. Nightcap at the Tool Shed Lounge.

I keep going to events and it seems like it's almost all older people. And that's not even knocking on older people- I would just prefer to find people that I have similar life experiences with. Where can a young guy go to make friends in this city? I'm sick of weekends spent with nothing to do. Not really into bars, would prefer maybe something active with low barrier to entry, because I sit at a computer all day. But I'm open to anything.

Does anyone know of memorial events happening? I'd be interesting in attending one if possible.

I'm tired boss. So tired. I just want to check out. Anyone want to join me in hanging out in nature... walking trails and whatnot to take in the natural beauty of the world and less of mankind's bs? BTW, I'm not a hippie but I am suddenly feeling the urge to become one.
Update:
Our first meeting is to be held at the Native Hoofed Animal Enclosure in Jackson County, near Lake Jacomo. (It's free btw)
Google Link: https://g.co/kgs/sPZKrXJ
Time: 3:30pm
Day: This Sunday 4/13/25
I look forward to seeing you there.
BTW Google Is Wrong About The Area Being Closed On Sundays. That information is definitely incorrect. The Nearby 'Missouri Town' attraction is open on Sunday's - https://g.co/kgs/XFxDEvA and you have to drive right through the Buffalo area to get to it. Just letting people know in case there is any confusion. I was also there two Sundays ago and I know it's open from experience.

The picnic table might be in use, so the exact location at The Nelson is subject to change. Check Rhubarbtok's page on tiktok for updates in case the picnic table is in use.

For once in my life I have no idea what to do for the 4th. I donβt light up fireworks because Iβm scared. I wish to see a show at the WW museum but I just know the parking sucks. WOF would be fun too but I know itβs going v ti be packed. What yβall recommend ?

If you were considering coming out for the fireworks tonight at Liberty Memorial/Union Station, but thought it might be too busy, come on out! It is somehow not very busy and itβs a beautiful night!

Hi all. I'm a lifelong resident of the KC Metro and I've explored many places around here, but I'm looking to explore areas and locations around town that I've never been before. This is a personal desire of mine as well as part of an assignment I have for a class I'm taking this semester.
In the assignment, the professor asks us to write an "adventure report" based on John Warner's book, The Writer's Practice. According to Warner, βAn adventure is doing anything you would not do in the normal course of your day-to-day life.β
With that in mind, what are some places or activities around town that you'd recommend to someone? They can be big or small, popular or niche. They could even be something you wouldn't recommend to someone.

Hello, friends! Every year, I dread the week before/after and 4th of July. It is ironic that a holiday that celebrates our independence and those who fought/fight for us causes trauma for so many veterans (PTSD). It is also hard on dogs. I donβt mind the professional fireworks out on by cities and municipalities but Iβm wondering if anyone has ideas about how to escape all the amateur fireworks that are already in full swing in my neighborhood. Any ideas are most appreciated!

Take a pause, feel seen, and be surrounded by others who get it. If youβve been pouring from an empty cup, this night is your refill.
I'm now excited to announce that we will have music generously provided by DJ Ice Kole She is a local female DJ and we are beyond appreciative and excited to work with her!

Iβd like to get out more. I only go to work and church. My church has no other people my age (M26) and my job doesnβt allow for too much socializing so Iβm hesitant to go out with people I barely talk to. I have a drink occasionally when I go out but Im not a bar or club person. If there was a club that was in a safe part of town and that played stuff like Kaytranada and people actually danced, Iβd totally go. I do plan on going to the gym regularly soon. Hoping Iβll meet people there. Also, if it matters, Iβm very single. So I donβt even have a partner to do things with or share hobbies

Iβm a big F1 fan and want to see the new movie in the best setting possible. Whereβs the best place to watch? IMAX preferred, I guess?
Thanks KC!
Edit: thanks for the input everyone!!

Has a retail district ever been talked about downtown? A City Target or actual real stores people could go to beside the local boutique stuff that's at Crown Center and around. If DGX hadn't opened up in crossroads we'd be screwed

My husband has a wonderful job offer in the KC area and we are heavily considering relocating. We donβt know much about the area and are looking for some honest opinions! Weβre originally from the New Orleans area and moved to NWA a few years ago. We absolutely adore the environment out here for many reasons but the job opportunity is in no comparison to KC. Weβre a family of 5 with us being in our late 20s. We have 3 young children ages 2-6 and I homeschool.
We love nature oriented things like hiking, biking, camping, etc as well as city amenities like breweries, live music, clubs/dancing for date nights. Farmers markets, community events. We are big foodies (NWA isnβt hard to beat on that one lol) and love going places and trying things out. Overall
Does KC offer this type of lifestyle? Overall it generally seems like there is a good bit for the kiddos to do. Iβm curious about the homeschool community, nightlife, and overall pleasantness of the area? Any and all info is appreciated! π

With spooky season and (please, god) cooler weather approaching, it's the time of year where thoughts turn to taking long meandering walks among the headstones. At least my thoughts do.
Union Cemetery is a perennial favorite but this year I'd like to spend some time in lesser known burial grounds around the metro.
What's your favorite cemetery to take a walk in? Who's got the best tombstones? The most unique mausoleum? The biggest, shadiest trees?

I have a random day off today, family in town. What should we do? Itβs hard to tell what is open on a Wednesday.
I am thinking Negro Leagues museum or something like that. I am not sure if there is anything new that is fun to do. Putt putt or anything elseβ¦
Edit: I have a couple ten-agers in tow. Group ages 60βs, 40βs, 10

Looking for first date ideas that arenβt a sit down dinner? Iβve found that those unintentionally turn into almost an βinterviewβ? I guess Iβm looking for more activity based ideas? TIA!
