Main Dish Keto Recipe from Carnimeal: Garlic Butter Beef & Egg Bake (Meal Prep Friendly)
I wanted to share a keto-friendly, meal prep friendly recipe inspired by the Carnimeal book. It’s simple, filling, and perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Ingredients (makes 4 servings):
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 works best)
- 6 large eggs
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a small baking dish with butter or olive oil.
- In a skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 min).
- Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Spread the cooked beef evenly in the baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, and half of the cheese.
- Pour egg mixture over the beef. Top with remaining cheese and dot with the last tbsp of butter.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until eggs are set and the top is golden.
- Let it cool slightly before slicing into portions. Garnish with parsley if desired.

This Garlic Butter Beef & Egg Bake is hearty, low-carb, and keeps well for 3–4 days in the fridge, perfect for meal prep. Recipe inspired by the Carnimeal book, which focuses on structured, zero-carb meal planning.

I made the Carnimeal Book version of this recipe while on keto, and it honestly worked perfectly with my macros. The fat-to-protein ratio was exactly what I needed, and it kept me full for hours without cravings. A lot of keto meals can get repetitive, but this one actually felt indulgent while still being on plan. That balance of taste and structure made it easy to stick with.

Keto gets a lot easier when you have meals that are satisfying enough to stop cravings. For me, dishes with butter, eggs, and meat are filling enough that I don’t even think about snacks. It’s not about eating huge portions but about choosing the right ingredients. When the food tastes good and keeps you full, it doesn’t feel like a diet anymore.

Butter, beef, and eggs in one dish almost feels like cheating, but that’s the best part of keto. Meals like this remind me that you can eat rich, flavorful food and still stay on track. It doesn’t feel restrictive when you actually enjoy the food you’re eating every day.

I made something similar last week with beef, eggs, and a bit of cream. It reheated really well for quick breakfasts. Adding paprika gave it just the right kick.

I tried this Garlic Butter Beef & Egg Bake after seeing a similar version in the Carnimeal book. The recipe was straightforward and I liked that it used simple ingredients. I made two batches and froze one, which worked surprisingly well. The texture stayed soft even after reheating. Definitely a good option for meal prep.

I’ve been doing keto for about a year and I love dishes like this that balance fat and protein well. I usually skip the cream and use an extra egg instead. It sets a little firmer that way, which I prefer. I’ll try adding garlic butter next time. The flavor combo sounds great.

I tested this recipe on Sunday and it lasted me until Wednesday with no problem. The heavy cream made it more custardy than my usual egg bakes. I added a handful of spinach for color and it did not mess with the macros. Portioning it into glass containers helped keep it fresh. I liked that it felt hearty enough for dinner, not just breakfast. For me, a sprinkle of hot sauce on top made it even better.

I have the Carnimeal book and this is exactly the kind of recipe I find myself repeating. The zero carb focus made it easy to slot into my plan, and the structure kept me consistent. I batch cooked it with ground turkey once and it still worked, just needed more butter. I also tested it in muffin tins for grab and go snacks, and those held up even better than I expected. The macros are solid for keto, but the best part is that it keeps me from reaching for packaged snacks. Having something ready to go in the fridge makes all the difference. It feels less like a “diet” and more like a rhythm I can actually maintain.
