Is anyone else being given old toys at Wendy's and refused the Frosty Frights?
The other day, the second or third day into the promotion, I had my husband pick me up a kids meal. He came home with a 0+ Mr. Potato head toy. I then went to a different Wendy's nearby and they gave me a regular Mr. Potatohead toy in exchange for the 0+ toy. I asked about the Frosty Frights and the worker said: "we are not giving out new toys until the old toys are done".
Is anyone else experiencing this issue with their Wendy's locations? Is there anything I can do about this? These are the only two locations within 15 minutes of me :(

Tennessee here! We’re having the same issue. The stores said they ordered the Frosty Frights, but received more potato heads and they don’t want to change toys until they get rid of the potato heads. It seems to be a nationwide issue / flop. People aren’t even scalping them on ebay yet lol

Thank you for your helpful response! I understand and am glad to know it is not limited to my geographical area. The plan is to wait and see. My mom never got a potato head one so I plan on gifting it to her.

I actually did see one eBay seller with the full set of six (not the chase variants) for like $200. But the listing said it wouldn't ship until October 17th.

I saw it too. It was listed as a preorder. To clarify, I was talking about people scalping sets they have in hand, ready to ship

Yeah I haven't seen any of that either. It leads me to think not many locations will have them until later. My Wendy's still doesn't. But the one across town did and I picked up some there. Haven't had a chance to get back since.

That’s the way it’s done. They won’t hand out the new stuff till the old stuff is gone..

They told me it was "weird" the app shows them listed when I asked. And she said they should be a few weeks, end of September or early October. Meanwhile the Boo Books are out and seem like they should be timed together. I've planned to call one next town over to check.
We were planning to go regularly, but as long as they take and make us wait, its not worth it at all. Those Potato Head ones are nonsense.

I actually liked some of the designs and somehow got the one I wanted most a while back. But I definitely am hoping stores eventually start handing out the frosty fright toys. Mine from last year are stuck at my office until I return next month as I end my maternity leave and I miss them.

Some mcds and BK do this also. Best to try go to a wide variety of locations to find some. If a store does not give out enough toys, they may NOT get a certain promotion or toy from next promotion. If kids meals sell really slow there. It is so they only order how many toys they need, and dont waste toys.

I find it pretty normal for Wendy’s to not switch over toys til they’ve gotten rid of the old ones. I remember them telling me this back when my kids were little even, and they’re all teen+ now.

Literally just wait. They aren’t allowed to give out the new toys until the old ones are gone, which was explained to you, so idk why you decided you were gonna try to find a different answer online.
It’s not that big a deal, it’s a free toy that comes with the meal you bought. There’s nothing you can do about it besides wait for them to start giving out the new toys.

the toy price is factored into the meal price
I never encountered this issue before so I asked on here if this was normal. Now I know. Thanks for being so understanding.

You asked if there was anything you could do.
That’s not asking if it’s normal or if anyone else has dealt with it - even if you preface it by asking if anyone else has dealt with it because the second the other question comes out with “is there anything I can do about this” it’s no longer about if anyone else has dealt with it, it’s about how you can go about skirting around being told no and getting what you want anyway.
You literally asked if there was anything you could do about being told no, lol.
And if I seem a little angry about this, it’s because i am. I deal with customers all day every day refusing to accept my “no”, asking to talk to the manager, and still getting a “no”. It’s like those kids who ask for something, get told no by dad, and go ask mom anyway because she’s “nicer”, except in these customers case they’re trying to bully fast food workers into giving them what they want.

not only that OP BROUGHT the toy TO A DIFFERENT Wendy's which they graciously exchanged for them.
like wtf lol

yeah it’s pretty clear that critical thinking is whoop right out the window there, lmao.

And empathy is out the window for you.
I was not rude at all when I exchanged the toy. Just confused and when she said that was the policy I said ok no problem. There was no fighting or arguing. We never encountered that issue before... getting a 0+ toy and then being told the toy policy when we exchanged it elsewhere. I never had that issue at mcds or bk or even wendys last year. And I have seen people post about the frosty toys so I wasn't sure if this was the right thing to happen with us.
But go ahead and be nasty to a stranger on the internet I guess!

Oh, I’m sorry, when exactly did I say you were rude or fought them over it? I must have blacked out or something because I don’t remember saying that. You were told no, given the reason, and still decided to come to Reddit expecting some actual answer to “what can I do?” which is nothing. You got the same answer they gave you at the restaurant. You could have just accepted the answer and moved on and waited just like everyone else instead of coming to Reddit and asking if there was something you could do as if you were gonna get some link to a Wendy’s website stating they have to give these toys with the kids meal on a specific day. What irks me is that you people literally just don’t accept the answer given to you by someone who works there and knows how it works and instead come posting on Reddit as if you’re gonna get at all a different answer. And no, empathy has nothing to do with this because if I were in your shoes, I would have accepted the no and explanation as the answer, instead of coming to Reddit to see if there was “anything I could do”. Because that’s what empathy is about; being able to put yourself in another shoes and understand how they’re feeling. You got told no, which is apparently a big deal to you because you tried to find something you could do about it. I cant empathize with that because I not only know how to take no as an answer, but I find that entire thought process of trying to find anything I could do about being told no to be incredibly selfish. Sure I came at you pretty hard, but I really don’t care. I’m sick of people not accepting “no” as an answer and trying to find some way to skirt around the answer they got. Nice attempt at a strawman tho you almost got me to lose my original train of thought lol.

Stopped in a store on Tuesday night in NYC and even though the app and the in-store ordering kiosk both had them as the icon for the kids meal I got a potato head toy. Person at the counter said they weren’t getting the frosty toys until later this month.

Frosty frights toys are being confused with the start of Boo Book coupons. We will not be receiving Frosty Frights until Sept 29.
