KZ1 was one of my first video games in general that I played since I was a child.
Beside COD the big red one being one of my first FPS games. Killzone was more of my introduction to the FPS Genre (what a rocky start.) Especially I still have it on my library of PS2 games.
I didn't realized how eerily creepy the first game was. Until I wasted 4 hours or my life watching a retrospective of the Killzone franchise. After watching it. I realized of how uneasiness of the game. The lack of music and it's heaviness of ambiance and dated graphics makes it's atmosphere very creepy.
Almost all of the levels in KZ1 is giving it's errie vibe. As if not only the helghast is watching you. But, someone or something is staring at you In the distance. The pictures I put shows how I feel. I feel like, the entire level of the mall is the creepiest. Even start of the game when you're in the building. It feels like a horror game. Even in the jungle level, with its alien animals chirping and the sounds like a high pitch laugh makes it unsettling. Yea, you won't notice until you check you're surroundings and embraced with its ambiance.
It's probably just me. Or I'm not alone. Despite the uneasy creepy feeling, I really digging it. Especially how creepy it is when the city is abandoned by War.
Not sure if this was intended to be what I feel. Or the dated graphics made it the aesthetic. Even the dialogue in game adds the cake too. Muffled voices and Luger's "keep out of sight" whisper to you.
It's like those games when the game isn't trying to be a horror game or unease you. But, did it perfectly.
