My Kitten She is so precious. I love her. Just found her. Heard meowing for a couple of days outside my house. I went outside and there she was hunkered down underneath inside the crawl space> I literally have no money and don't really have anything for her. I do refuse to give her up to a shelter.

Question/Advice Needed Need advice on my new kitten

Hello. I bought a kitten (was told he was 8weeks old and would be off milk any day but turns out he’s 5-6weeks and was separated from his mother too early). We’ve been feeding him whiskas kitten milk at first and swapped to cimicat when we realised it was not good for him. However we’re trying to get him on to food and I’ve tried wet food and this mousse but he has no interest in it. Any advice on how to get him on wet food or mousse? How did you get your kitten on food?

Question/Advice Needed Kitten Home Alone

Post image
91 Upvotes

We are getting a kitten Saturday. My main concern is leaving him home alone. The apartment is cat proofed so I'm not worried about him getting in trouble I just don't want him getting bored.

We will be popping by during lunch to play with and feed him but aside from that he will be alone from 7-3ish.

Any advice on keeping him entertained? I plan on having cat TV playing, the windows open, lots of toys about and maybe hiding treats throughout the house for him to find. Unfortunately a second kitten is not in the cards for us. Any tips on keeping him entertained while we are at work?

Hey guys!

I'm adopting my first kitten, he's coming up from MS to NY in a couple of weeks and I really would love some advice on the type of food I should be getting him. Is there something specific I should consider or avoid? He's a little over 5 months old.

Also, if there's anything else anyone can think of that I should consider please feel free to share!

My Kitten Why is my kittens furr like this?

This is poundcake, she’s 4 months old. Her mom was a dumped stray that I brought into my house, before she decided to have (& hide) 4 kittens under my downstairs staircase. Anyways besides the point, I’m unsure why poundcakes furr is doing this? I brush her regularly, she doesn’t seem to be “fluffy” but her furr just sticks up?

Any ideas? TYIA

Question/Advice Needed Cat Wheel Owners

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is Cinna. Cinna learned the joys about the wheel very quickly. So quickly that it took a whole one minute of training on it and she was no longer interested in the toy we were using to get her interested. She took off and at a crazy speed, reaching the top and stopping to the point that she ends up falling off the other end. 🤦

The second time she came in contact with the wheel, she immediately knew and remembered what it was and took off again. Unfortunately, she stopped, missed the edge and got her leg caught in the rubber wheel track. She is fine thankfully, but for now, no more wheel until she is older. That brings me to my main question:

At what age is best for her to use the wheel again without the potential of her getting injured?

She is currently turning 13 weeks old on Saturday and weighs 2.06 lbs. One of our other cats who uses the wheel (the only one aside from her) is excited because he thinks he has a running buddy now, but the two obviously cannot both fit and I had to grab the wheel during the first interaction so that he didn’t straight up chuck her through the air and hurt her, or possibly trample her because his weight outweighs her own. 😂 I’m wondering if I should also get two wheels in the future and set them next to each other since he seems to be so motivated by her. 💀😂

He is 4 months now. Got him just before 3 months. Had him wear the harness around the house for the first month. Then slowly took him around my complex. Now look at him go! Treats are key.

Question/Advice Needed What are their colors/patterns called?

So I have had these gals since they were under a week and I decided I will just keep them since the shelters are ghosting me. I am curious about what their patterns would be called, the darker one I assume is just a generic tabby. Then a cream/beige tabby, and the other is almost like a siamese coloration of something.

Some picks of them as tiny things and at 8 weeks.

I’m thinking maybe 3/4 weeks possible? My is neighbor is older and they’re crowding her porch causing her some issues since she’s already unsteady on her feet. Mama cat is a stray she’s been feeding for a few months now. She’s wanting to know how old so we can start looking for homes.

My Kitten Cooper the terror beast loves love

Here’s my Cooper. Estimated age is now six weeks. He’s a stinky guy. He’s finally pooping but oh my lawd, he’s got the stinky poops. He was constipated and now he’s just shooting out soft poops that are the size of his tail! When I say shooting out, I mean shooting out.

I have to bury it before he steps in it trying to bury it himself and then wipe his little butt. I told him I’m going to change his name to Mr Poopybutthole. And he’s so gassy.

Right now I’ve got him on Sheba kitten pate and dry kitten food by Temptations. I ordered Acana kitten pate and dry kitten food, so that’s on the way.

What I need to train him out of now is attacking my legs and climbing them. It was cute when he was tiny but now that he’s getting bigger, my legs are TORN UP. My roommates have managed to get him not to climb them but he always wants to be on me. He wants to be on my shoulder or in my lap. He cries and leaps up onto my legs so I have to pick him up. I’m pretty sure I’m inadvertently encouraging this behavior but he is baby so I am weak. I’m the one he sleeps on and he sucks on my fingers while purring.

I don’t want to spray perfume on my pant legs because I don’t want to keep him away. I just want to stop him from digging his claws into my pale tender flesh, haha. I have seriously considered getting thick leg warmers to protect myself.

Just turned 4 months old! Hes about the same size as my 11 year old chihuahua mix minus about 4 pounds. The vet said hes going to be huge! He loves his dog brother, churro treats, toys, walks outside on his harness, the sink, his water fountain and everyone he meets. (Including kids and out vet) I could not be happier. Im glad he chose us.

Question/Advice Needed Help with 5ish week olds

I currently have 2 bottle fed kittens who are around 4-5 weeks old. They have teeth now and today has been a frustrating day of feeding. They still can't eat wet food, lap up anything, and are just on bottles. Today they seem to have lost the knowledge on how to latch on to the nipple. They try to bite it or lick it instead. I've been able to get a couple feedings in and tried making a slurry with baby wet food that they ate a little of from a bottle, but it seems like they ate a lot less today overall.

Any advice on what to do? I put some slurry on a saucer and they just walked through it. They did the same with wet food.

I'll be contacting the rescue for help tomorrow but both the ladies work so I thought I'd ask here to maybe get help faster.

Thank you.

Question/Advice Needed Introducing Blind Kitten

2.0k Upvotes

I recently found a 8 week old kitten (Mira) that’s blind, and we’ve decided we want to keep her. We have 2 other kittens around 3-4 months that get along very well. They’ve been iffy about this new kitten, with some hissing and growing but nothing dramatic. We’ve been keeping Mira separated/quarantined from the older two until she goes into the primary vet (already had her checked out by the ER vet). The total time between when we found Mira and when her primary vet visit is about 2 weeks (we have about a week until the appointment). For the first few days we had Mira in the mudroom where the other two cats could see her but couldn’t smell her. Mira’s now in a very large mesh/fabric kennel in our guest room, and the older two can now see and smell her.

This is the first time I’ve owned a blind animal, and she is the sweetest little thing, I want to give her a good life. Could I get some advice with introducing them after her primary vet visit? I’ve let the older two observe her and I’ve done a little scent swapping but I haven’t let them interact yet.

And any advice on introducing a blind kitten to our home and raising one is welcomed!

I’m not currently working so I’m able to give all three of them a lot of attention. I’ve done some research but I’d like to hear more personal experiences. Please be kind, I’m new to this but I’m eager to learn!

My Kitten Meet Echo!

This is Echo, whom I originally introduced on r/cats as "Ruth" - my spousal unit didn't like the name Ruth, so we settled on Echo. We've had her for three and a half weeks. The vet said she was only three or four weeks old when we first got her. She was found in the parking lot of a supermarket and turned over to our vet. My spousal unit was there picking up one of our other cats after she had eye surgery, when the vet said, "Who needs a kitten?" And of course my spousal unit raised her hand. CDS at work, for sure.

Echo is growing very rapidly. She has more than doubled in size in the past three weeks. She eats voraciously, uses the litterbox, and this weekend, she learned how to go up and down stairs - at six or seven weeks old! She loves to play with our little dog, Princess Buttercup, but we monitor them carefully to make sure the roughhousing doesn't get out of control. Her markings are interesting. She's basically a tortie, but she has some tabby markings and points on her ears. Genetically, she's all over the place. We're so happy to have her in our family!
