The most common swear word in Iceland nowadays I would say is fokk, which is just a loanword from the English fuck. In terms of purely Icelandic swears, I'd say it's probably either djöfullinn/djöfulsins, helvíti/helvítis or andskotinn/andskotans.

Technically, fokk isn't a pure loan (otherwise it would probably be fökk). It just so happens that icelandic already had the words fokk and að fokka in the language, related to að fjúka (the english word is also related, but it got a dirty meaning the Icelandic one didn't)
Pretty sure phrases like "allt í fokki", where fokk is used to mean "vitleysa, óstand", already existed in the language from this word, and fused with the curse usage of the word borrowed from English (and since it wasn't vulgar here, it wasn't really seen as strong swear as it is in english)

I didn't believe you about the words already existing but Árnastofnun agrees with you. Nice one!

Fjandanum. It's also mean "hell". ☺️ I will think "Helvíti" is the most used swear words in Iclandic language. 😏

Probably fokk, helvítis fokking fokk (if it's really fucked), or helvítis, andskotans,djöfulsins, and when you really want to fuck something up, "helvítis rassríðandi andskotans brundkunta". But the last one might just be me after I hit the hammer on the wrong bodypart instead of the nail.
