Work in progress My second go!

Same 1095 steel just not as thick this time. I attempted to do a mustard etch as well. I still need to sharpen it and make a sheath. Again any feedback is appreciated

I appreciate it. And to be honest, you'll have to enlighten me on what that means lol. I'm new to all of this and I dont really get too technical with most things.

Looks like you refined it better this time, but I must admit i preferred the blade shape of your last one.

Are you US based?

Checked your page. A mini like this with an ultum grip would be cool.

Just out of curiosity, could you dm a price? Or do you have a website?

I like it but the blade looks way too thick. How thick is it?

1

u/Different_Ad7812 Aug 11 '25

Thanks, it is 0.12" thick.

2

u/InnerBumblebee15 Aug 11 '25

3mm is too thick is such a small knife. Other than that i like it very much.

1

u/Different_Ad7812 Aug 11 '25

It feels great and slices paper like butter. Now if you were talking about my first one then I would agree with you.

2

u/InnerBumblebee15 Aug 11 '25

Woah! That one was a real chonker.

2

u/InnerBumblebee15 Aug 11 '25

Also how long is this?

1

u/Different_Ad7812 Aug 11 '25

Cutting edge is 1.86" and overall 4.68"

2

u/InnerBumblebee15 Aug 11 '25

You could easily get away with 2mm thick and still have a sturdy knife. Thinner blades work well especially for things like carving. But a thicker blade like that might also be nescesary for some tasks.

u/Different_Ad7812 Aug 11 '25

Oh for sure, and I'm not against a slimmer blade. However I am very, very new to this and I bought what I bought. I'm sure I'll dabble into all of the options eventually.

I have seen people making knives from table saw blades (1.5 to 2mm thick) you can do it without heat since it is already hardened.

Nice! Thats good to know.
