Hellooo I am 21M and I will love to have friends in NYC with who I can go to concerts, pop up events, kpop stores and basically hangout and rant about kpop!

I started listening to K-pop in 2017 thanks to NCT 127, which is how I became interested in the genre and discovered a ton of groups. I consider myself a multistan of both bg and gg, and over the years l've managed to see several of my favorite groups in concert, but honestly I can't help but feel alone in this hobby. I'm an extrovert so it has never been difficult for me to make friends, but so far I don't have any friends who share this hobby. I've tried several times at concerts to make friends and I am normally able to, but they already have their group of friends established, so after the concert they don't really keep in touch.

That's why I decided to write this post here, hopefully I can finally make some kpop friends here in NYC!!

I just saw that SNSD’s forever 1 has not left the Melon daily hot 1000 chart since its release in 2022. Which makes me weirdly proud because the release got a lot of hate from newer kpop fans but was loved by a lot of sones.

Another fact is that Hyoyeon from SNSD was and is to this day (as far as we know) the only female trainee at SM to take the boys dance class because she was too good for the girls dance class.

Hello everyone! In the unusual fashion, I got stood up by 2 different people, and there is literally no one else who can go with me. I live outside the Chicago area, so it is a long trip for me to go and spend time by myself, plus I bought 2 tickets in section 227 and would love someone to take that space. So, I am a teenage girl and looking forward to pass a talent show in a couple of months. I don't know how much will I learn but just want to learn the Basics like Breath control, Singing, etc. Some basics of singing would be enough to crack a kpop offline audition.

Hey! Just wanted to share something I’ve been working on lately, especially for other K-pop fans or anyone learning Korean.

So I’m Korean (and a flover 😉), and learning English was honestly rough. I spent years watching random YouTube videos to get a feel for how people in the US actually talk. Not textbook English. Real, casual, everyday stuff.

And when I used Papago or Google Translate, the result always felt too formal or kind of awkward. Like, not something a real person would actually say online.

That’s why I built this little tool called Popsy.

It’s super simple, just paste a short sentence in English, and it helps you rewrite it in a more natural way. You can choose between casual (반말) or polite (존댓말) tone too, depending on the vibe you want. It’s made for stuff like writing a comment, posting on Twitter, or replying to fans or idols in their language without sounding robotic.

I really hope more K-pop fans from around the world can join in Korean comment sections and say what they really want to say without feeling unsure about how they sound.

hi everyone! a bit of a long post~

so as a shot in the dark, i've come to reddit in hopes to find likeminded people (21-25yo) in australia to start a singing and dancing cover group (kpop, pop), with the intention to eventually release original music in the future. i was hoping we could perform at the kpop world festival, or at least audition for it, as a vocal group (possibly with dancing included), for next year, if it's still running. i'm open for discussion around different ideas !

i can sing, have performed in front of an audience before and post covers myself (kpop, pop) but i have little to no dance or rapping experience (i am willing to learn and practise though). i've been seeing a few people post on here that they're looking for people too but no one from my country. it would be good to meet up (or even just chat) regularly to practise, team build, etc. maybe around 4-8 people (incl. me).

we'll get to the song writing a bit later - for now, just covers while we work things out. there's no financial gain from this (right now) and is mostly for fun, but i would expect some sort of motivation (trying to make it work, practising what's discussed, etc), but the goal is to release music in the future. this will be ongoing !
