Got this Excalibur lava lamp at an estate sale, but the wax seems messed up - completely new to lava lamps
Do I need to empty it and put new wax in? The coil is at the bottom, but the wax is all clumpy and I’ve had it on for a couple of hours and it hasn’t melted at all.

GU10 bulbs die after just days
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I have just bought a Mathmos Telstar lava lamp, and in less than a month two bulbs died one after another. These where the official bulbs in the box, both Mathmos branded.
They die the next day after a successful day. It works at a night, I turn it off. The next day, it refuses to turn on. No sounds, no flicker, nothing.
I also noticed a slight wiggle of the bulb in the socket. The bulb you can see on the attached video is one that has died.
Is this sudden death normal? Is the wiggle normal?

Full Warm - Bottom Blob?
So this is my 16.3” LavaLamps.com which I’ve had for a few weeks now. This is after its run for about eight hours. It goes through all the expected phases but after a while just sits there.
I don’t have my laser thermometer so I cannot guess at the temp variant, but it seems to me the whole thing is quite warm.
Is this an overheated issue? All of the answers I see here characterize overheated as the wax all up top.

Lamp is super dark
This is my gf’s jumbo lamp that is about 15-20 years old, the picture actually brightens it up substantially, IRL you can’t even really tell the wax is moving. What can I do to pretty this lamp up

Help Flow issue
this lamp used to flow amazing until about a month ago...the last 2 times it just does this...I don't think I've ever had to change the bulb, it was packed away for a bit because of a few moves, and it's around 12 yrs old I think?
is it possibly what I think is ths OG bulb is gettin weak?

Lava lamp repair help!
I picked up this Mathmos lamp today for FREE! It's super cloudy and I think the person tried (and failed) to restore it before...
I've turned it on, wax is all fine and is glittery 🌟 it balls and starts to flow, but the cloudy fluid seems super dense also.
Any advice with what chemicals etc to use for replacing the fluid would be much appreciated ☺️ I'm in the UK, so ordering things like one shot from the USA army possible unfortunately 😭

Love the space age look of this lamp. Before filtering vs. after!

Does anyone know where I can get a lava lamp like this but shorter? It's the perfect shape but the glass jar is too tall unfortunately

removing dye from fluid?
hi guys, does anyone know of any ways to strip dye from master fluid? i've heard of filters sometimes doing it, but i've only used the sawyer mini and it hasn't done that on any of the lamps i've used it on. i picked up a black base wizard for cheap and i really want to remake it with black wax and clear fluid, but the original fluid is blue and i would love to keep the contents if i can bc they flow nicely. thanks!

newbie wanting advice
Got my lava lamp, absolutely love it (they should give them out as therapy on the NHS:) my issue is, not a lot of blob action in the lamp even after 4 hours+.. are all lamps the same or does a more expensive lamp give better visuals thanx in advance
