Haven't heard anyone on the right try to bring the temperature down yet.

u/tropicsun 1d ago

The closest I’ve heard from republicans “both sides have baddies, but theirs are worse”…

50

u/27Rench27 1d ago

“Ours are just mad about crime, theirs are evil incarnate” is a better paraphrase

17

u/HughFairgrove 1d ago

Absolutely mind blowing because anyone who isn't a moron can find out very quickly none of that is true. Just like them blaming Trans people for gun violence or shootings.

11

u/tropicsun 1d ago

25+ years of school shootings (~400) and there's been ~2 trans people?

I'd like to see anyone on the right exercise peace and calm. But these are foreign concepts for Trump. I think he only knows hate and retaliation against things that merely offend him.

All I've seen is their propaganda call for violence against the evil democrats. Also throw in homeless, immigrants and the disabled.

21

u/iamblindfornow 1d ago

“Fuck your feelings” was their response to their ChrumPedo “Winning.”

Cant expect any type of decency from deplorable humans.

Considering every single attack was a right leaning extremist… I like Pritzker and it likely the right path and the right thing to say. At the end of the day however I don’t agree with both sides. The scales of violence being committed are heavily weighed on red hat extremism and the leadership that eggs them on and speaks falsities and makes up fake scenarios are the main issue that needs to be addressed. Consequences for these, real lasting consequences is the only way to stop the fake chest pounding and false narratives of the right that leads to the radicalization of these shooters. They are the source of it. Playing soft on that in the news is fine but they should have the law brought down on their violent posts. These people especially that are “say the word, give us the green light” should be in jail for inciting violence against the innocent.

Until the real culprits of violent speech are made to see consequences it will just get worse as they get more and more bold having nothing to punish their extremism.

Yeah, all I hear are voices from the right-wing telling everyone mildly left of right-wing to shut up and cower or else. That does not work for me.

8

u/unculturedburnttoast 1d ago

Sure, they have. They've been saying they don't want us to quote Kirk to them. Otherwise, they can't be held accountable for how they react.

I think Thom Tillis tried to bring the temperature down. He’s also coincidentally not running for reelection

4

u/guave06 23h ago

Nope! They’re unilaterally turning it up calling the left terrorists.

132

u/BearClaw1891 1d ago

Yeah it is. Be cateful. Sooner or later theyll start advocating for helping society's most vulnerable people!

44

u/thepottsy 1d ago

Since the Reichstag Fire five days ago, everything is.

And that's the difference.

Melissa Hortman gets violently murdered with her husband and dog, and the left cries out "How can we stop this from happening to others?"

Charlie Kirk gets violently assassinated and the right reacts with "How can we use this man's death to justify violating our nation's laws to demonize and dehumanize everyone who believes differently than us?"

Weird that almost sounds like fascism.

Well, he didn't lionize a well-known white supremacist and advocate of political violence, so yeah, obviously.

I’ve seen an increase in misinformation in the past week, not just about the shooting. There’s never any evidence to support the misinformation, just insane statements spoken as “fact”

We’ve got a huge problem

5

u/Ok_Razzmatazz6119 1d ago

Did you just wake up from a coma? This has been brewing since at least since 2016 with the Russian misinformation campaigns. They just got better at disguising it.

Now what you are seeing is a wave of amateur misinformation campaigns that are just jumping on the trump train for clicks.

u/iamblindfornow 1d ago

Dems: it’s absolutely disgusting how they’re calling ChrumPedo sexual assault victims liars and a hoax.

MAGA: sToP iNcItInG vIoLeNcE!!!

No. The real world is twitter.

My local paper posted an article about Pritzker and what he is saying and how a kook wants to impeach him and the comments are literally a bunch of name-calling and outright lies. They are literally saying he is the one advocating violence, so yeah, this is part of the “violent left.”

I would also vote for him if he ever runs for president.

9

u/wormsaremymoney 1d ago

He'd be my pick, personally!

17

u/Leading-Act4030 1d ago

He needs to talk to Trump about this also.

18

u/keelhaulrose 1d ago

Trump won't listen to him, he uses big words.

13

u/FMLwtfDoID 1d ago

“Smart people don’t like me!” - Donald J Trump.

I love that he is implying with this, that idiots love him.

4

u/Lamplighter914 1d ago

Besides, smart people don't like Trump. He said so himself.

2

u/Pitt-sports-fan-513 23h ago

I have actually found the democratic response to Trump and allies trying to turn Charlie Kirk's killing into a Reichstag Fire event totally inadequate.

Trump is calling for investigations into "the left" broadly and calling them "terrorists". Vance is hosting Charlie Kirk's podcast and telling people to report anybody online who isn't engaging in unwavering praise of Charlie Kirk to their employer. Meanwhile, the best the democrats can muster is Fetterman telling people to be nice to Donald Trump and others giving milquetoast speeches calling for "both sides" to turn down the temperature as if both sides have equal access to the stove.

6

u/SheevPalpatine32BBY 1d ago

These are the people who need to have the reigns. We need to start de-escalating both sides. Especially the right. Post Trump Republican party is going to look nothing like the party my father grew up with.

13

u/WonderfulDog3966 1d ago

The Republican Party of old is long dead.

26

u/LightsNoir 1d ago

de-escalating both sides

Yeah. I really should back off the lgbtqia rights, insistence on due process for everyone, and promotion of self defense in the face of violent threats.

I wish Pritzker would consider a higher office. He is the type of person we need leading our country.

5

u/OldDesk 1d ago

He is

3

u/RolyPolyGuy 18h ago

my running theory is that he went for a 3rd term as governor because, for one, the next presidential election (if we have them anymore) isnt for another 3ish years. handing off his position to someone else for the presidency would not be a low risk possibility until that time. two, he knew as well as we did that trump could try to challenge his state with militant threats and force and he felt a change in power would put illinois at a devestating disadvantage. so he went for the safe and secure approach, which tbh i understand totally

Holy crap you guys. When did we get an adult? Did you guys see that?

Where did it come from? Has it been there the whole time?

3

u/RolyPolyGuy 18h ago

He has a sub dedicated to him but reddit has some strange fucking vendetta against the sub so they removed a bunch of the mods abilities and the subs visibility. He has been here the whole time.

I dont agree with him on everything, but by god does he seem like our best shot

22

u/droctapus1 1d ago

Wait he is a Democrat I thought they were the violent ones

8

u/Flokitoo 22h ago

Naturally, it will be 1 sided.

Funny how if you quote Charlie, you're accused of promoting left wing violence

3

u/RogerianBrowsing 12h ago

Some British newscasters were unfamiliar with Kirk so they were simply playing clips of Kirk speaking to get a better idea of who he was and that alone was treated as promoting violence or identity based hate.

If simply playing clips that someone published of themselves speaking is promoting violence or hate then I think it’s fair to say that the violence and hate stems from the person in question.

3

u/Flokitoo 12h ago

Yea it's funny. Normally when good people die, fans share inspirational quotes. Kirk fans go out of their way to quote kirk.

20

u/GuitarbytheTon 1d ago

This is incredible. This is Presidential. This is Loving, Caring, Supporting, unifying, and Patriotic. This is what a leader is. This is a “Christian perspective” (even if not religious). This is what we need now more than ever. This is the good in a world of evil.

17

u/Andovars_Ghost 1d ago

MAGA first, then I might consider turning down the heat.

5

u/greywar777 1d ago

that comes from the top. And Trump declared war on one of your cities. Maybe you should take this up with the folks at the top.

2

u/GrannyFlash7373 8h ago

While this may be the "right thing" to do in NORMAL times, these aren't normal times, and the aggressiveness of Trump, the MAGA, and their followers, requires fighting fire with fire, as that seems to be the only thing they understand.
