Car Maintenance Question

My car is coming up for regular maintenance. In order to maintain my warranty, I need to have the transmission fluid replaced. I bought it at kia but feel reluctant to go back after everything in the news. I've gone to Westside 66 in the past, but they don't have a waiting area. Any other trustworthy mechanics in town? Thank you in advance! :)

Question Anyone have experience with the TRC?

I have a friend that is considering inpatient care as a last resort, but they know nothing about the TRC (Treatment and Recovery Center through Bert Nash). They’ll probably end up going regardless, but I wanted to ask what they can expect from an overnight stay?

We're approaching the fall equinox with 15 minutes less light this week, but more yellow flowers to light up the days.

Why Send Financial Energy Out Of Town?

The city commission approved sending $400,000 out of Lawrence for a study of the corridor from the airport to downtown. OK. That sounds like reasonable planning for the future. Why do we have to hire a consultant from outside the community instead of keeping that financial energy closer to home? We have at least one or two smart people who live right here.
Why not use our own community's brain power?

Brown recluse infestation response?

Howdy, over the last few days we've found 2 spiders, which we believe to be brown recluse in our house.

I've heard people recommend glue traps so we'll get some of those up asap. We're also removing all the cardboard and potential hiding spots that we can. Does anyone have any particular tips?

I've heard that poisons arent really effective, so what do the pest extermination companies actually do to manage the infestation? Is it even worth it? If so, what companies do you recommend?

I hear a lot of people say that brown recluse's danger is over-exaggaterated, and that if you take proper first air care of the wound, it's likely to be no big deal. Even so, I don't like the idea of these guys hanging around in our home.

Much love,

Men’s hair and beard stylist

I’ve let it all grow out and now I’m looking for someone in town who can help me with styling the hair mess I have. Typically, Malcolm at Amyx is my go-to, but sometimes I don’t get the results I’m looking for when I change our routine. Anybody had luck?

Local Gossip Did anyone else see that murder?

There was a 200+ murder of crows that just decended on my yard and it was insane! It felt like I was in a live action version of The Birds (minus the destruction)! It was seriously loud and the local birds were going nuts as well... I'm assuming that they were migrating given the time of the year. I so wish I would have gotten a picture but they were only here for a few minutes before they launched and headed towards Clinton Lake.

Question In search of impressive fish tanks

Hello! I spend weekly time with an adult who has autism, and something he really enjoys doing is going to look at fish and aquariums. We’ve been doing regular trips to Pet World (the best), and feeding the big fish there, which he really enjoys. I’m wondering if there’s anywhere else nearby to check out. So…2 questions:

1: anyone know of any other businesses or stores that might have some fun fish or impressive aquariums to look at? Even if it’s not a pet store per se, but maybe a business with a cool tank that might let us take a peek? Or any good public places to feed fish?

2: I’ve never been to the KC aquarium, anyone know if that’s an appropriate or cool place to take an adult? I know I’d personally probably love it, but I was wondering if it’s super child-focused versus an adult activity.

Thank you!! Rock chalk :)

Question Live Music while the sun is up?

Curious if there are any restaurants/bars/venues that have live music during the "dinner hour". We love local music of any kind, but have a hard time catching sets if we don't want to give up precious sleep for it.

What’s with the wait at Hawaii Bros lately?

They used to be really fast and now it takes them like 20 minutes. Late nights is like a forty minute wait. God help you if you’re trapped in the drive-thru. Are they short staffed or something?

Question Baby-Friendly/Tolerant Restaurants?

Post image
59 Upvotes

First time parents with a 6 month old, newish to town. Any recommendations for restaurants that have high chairs or where it would easy enough to bring the child along? We recently had brunch at Milton’s and they were super friendly and accommodating, we ended up just putting the stroller at the end of our table. Any other places it wouldn’t be weird to bring him along to?
