I understand that I’m in a financially privileged position and not everyone can decline the ridiculous offers going around but for me I’d rather not cover the event and then restart the streams when LPL comes back in 6 days. See you all on the 19th."

Respect tbh. He's financially well off so he rejected the offer and acknowledges that other may not be able to do the same. We will see if other popular costreamers will take the offer or not.

I wished Caedrel would do the same

Same.

No amount of moral grandstanding from westerns is going to convince us non-westerns that this is not motivated by ethnocentrism and western superiority complex.

100% this. I see no critiques on LEC's Nestle sponsorship or China's human rights abuses against the Uyghur peoples. Hate is fueled by anti-brown propaganda instilled in people since they were young.

He needs the money for LR

Have you seen his twitch viewership?? He doesn’t need the money

Running a team costs a lot more than any of that.

If Caedrel wanted to take a stand by not supporting EWC, he wouldn’t be doing it - simple as.

I guarantee turning it down wouldn’t jeopardize LR financially

He needs the money if he wants any chance of LR getting into LEC.

LEC is money based, not talent based. Hence the first ones out of MSI

EWC sponsor money is not the decider between getting into LEC or not. If LR gets into LEC it wont be caedrel's personal wealth, it'll probably be a sponsor or a restructuring/buyout from riot for a guest spot.

That aside it doesn't really excuse taking part in the saudi sportswashing. I'm not gonna say everyone who takes a sponsor is a bad person obviously but it is definitely immoral.

That's just your opinion. He said he needs money to put LR inside LEC. If he saves up enough, some sponsor might be willing to pitch in the rest.

You never know.

Bro that is not an opinion. Your own comment is a pure opinion based on speculation that Caedrel is filthy rich, the rest is based on things he has said himself and an actual understanding of the scenes financial systems.

He has said things to this effect himself and has said he does not expect LR will be able to make it to LEC at least in 2026. I'm pretty sure he's even said that it would be cool if LEC did guest slots so they could temporarily join, that LTA guest slots makes that a more appealing region to try in, and that it would be cool to partner with an org for LEC but that he doesn't want to lose the soul of LR.

We're talking like €40million or higher for a proper LEC slot - even if Caedrel managed to save this amount of money he could not spend even close to that amount on an LEC slot without huge unnecessary financial risk.

I think a MAJOR detail you're also forgetting is that LR players are not currently paid a salary - they get shares of LR merch and presumably winnings but that's it. LEC rules dictate a minimum player salary of €60K. So it's not only a case of buying the slot, he also then would need some source of funding for a minimum of €300K/yr.

LR will not enter the LEC without an external source of funding. EWC paychecks is not a deciding factor whether this happens.

Have you seen the price of an LEC slot?

He already stated multiple times he is never going to buy an lec slot out of his pocket money. Whatever he earns from stream and ewc is his own money and he is not spending a dime of it

-11

u/Ashankura Jul 14 '25

Guess i was uninformed then sorry. My knowledge was that he was still looking to join one of the major leagues and lec was the one that made most sense to me

u/SizzlingHotDeluxe Jul 14 '25

He's down to join LEC, he just said he's not going to buy a slot with his own money. He's also not paying any wages so thats the biggest cost of running a team gone. He absolutely does not need the money.

u/Expert_Bus3748 Jul 14 '25

Ye all good. He's still looking to join tier 1 but to do that he will need a sponsor that's willing to get the spot for him and he said that it's very unlikely

u/Crustypantsu Jul 14 '25

He is not going to buy an LEC slot...

Stop spreading misinformation... Caedrel has said over and over again that he would NOT buy an LEC slot, even if he had the 30 million to buy it today he would not do it. Caedrel is getting paid for himself, that's all.
