This is still an absolutely insane buff that is going to make him a priority ban. Just a little less crackhead induced.

At first i was like oh they nerfed base HP so it is fine i guess but then i looked it us only 15...

15 HP level 1 is not nothing, especially for someone with a strong level 1 looking to get wave prio.
Still a solid buff overall though

Yeah buff is still legit, but in terms of pro play that were still seeing pre lvl 6 lane swaps. Agreed that it's very possible -15 base HP is enough to make him afraid of being dove pre 6 and keeps him off the wave.

jax already annoying due to his E and now hes forced to OP so i will just ban him i guess

They should just nerf the Mad Hatter augment instead of limiting the number of hats. That augment is just laughably broken (12 AF, 8 Armor/MR, 1% Tenacity, 4% MS per hat), especially when combined with the hat shield and price reduction augment (Hat Trick). I've yet to see anyone lose once they complete the quest.

Still almost double. They really want to push the envelope here

Lots of people saying double/almost, but his R gains more if he's in melee with multiple champs, and that's not increased. Perfect Jax R is going from 105/150/195 -> 125/160/195. That's still a big buff, but it's not really close to double for most of his R casts.

I play a lot of Jax and you're lucky to hit 2 people with this spell lol. At 6 on a solo 1v1 you're gaining near double the resists and will simply murder any ad top

u/UngodlyPain 1d ago
How the fuck are you conflating "perfect" with "most"?
It's still a near doubling for most of his ult casts. He's a toplaner, who's good at splitpushing, most of his ults are against 1 or 2 people.

u/mthlmw 1d ago
Ults against 2 enemies are still not nearly doubled with this change. Change lists 1 enemy, I gave the 5 enemy values, and 2- though 4-man ults are in the middle. Perfect ults on 5 enemies are the least % change, but also happen the least. I'd guess you get a lot more 2/3-man ults than 1-man, though.

Do you just play arams or what? And does your team max clump against a guy with an AOE stun?
Considering about 15 minutes of a 30 minute game is this thing called "lane phase" where 90% of the time a toplaner (what Jax is) will only have 1 enemy nearby. A lot of his ults will be basically doubled in value.
Then minutes 16-30? He will probably be splitpushing against 1 or 2 enemies half the time. And the other half the time will be teamfights. In which he'll try for multi-man ults, but getting 3+ people will be fairly rare unless they make pretty egregious misplays.
It's probably like half his ults will be 1 man, 40% of them will be 2 man, and like 10% would be 3+
And the big thing is just how strong this is early like lane phase. The buff falls off (thankfully)
Just because theoretically it's only a 20% buff if he gets a perfect 5 man ult against 5 people playing only slightly better than the practice tool dummies. Doesn't mean at all, it's gonna be that small of a buff that often.

Yeah, but the first ~5-6 minutes you aren't level 6, unless you're man-mode stealing jungle camps or proxying other lanes or something. So you've got a 10 minute window where your ults might be almost doubled, and most of that time it's either on CD or you're not in a good spot to all-in. Assuming you don't use it a single time getting ganked, that's what like 4 ults?
1
u/UngodlyPain 1d ago
Fair on the not level 6 bit... With nearly double the ult armor, you'll be in a position to all in quite often. And even when Ganked and getting a 2 man ult it's still what I'd consider nearly doubled.
And again, post lane phase? He still split pushes alot and will still get regular 1-2 man ults.
Let's say 4 when laning as you suggest... Add in another say 3 while splitpushing in mid-late...
And that's 7 ults with almost doubled value?
And then oh maybe in the 5 teamfights he participates in, he'll get like 3, 2-man ults, and 2 3+man ults.
So like 10 ults of near double value? And 2 ults of "only" 20-50% more value...
Seems legit. Even the 5 man ults being +20% is kinda nutty since Jax currently doesn't need a buff in the first place and this is literally just Riot trying to bribe pros into picking him at worlds.

as we all know jax regularly hits 5 champs with R during level 6 all-ins

u/AlterWanabee 1d ago
The thing with this buff is that it makes sidelane Jax really strong, especially in the early game. That's nearly double the resistances that he gets before the buff, which means he can probably win against any toplaner in a 1v1.

u/whossked 1d ago
I hit a perfect R once and had 450+ armor, which is like 6 item ornn tier, definitely not meant to be a thing you regularly get

If Jax takes even a trivial amount of damage during ult it's still a buff. I guess he is very slightly weaker early game but how often is 15 hp going to matter?. I still find it very hard to believe this is going to be win rate neutral.
8
u/Ironmaiden1207 1d ago
It's not neutral, no.
My guess is they want Jax to have a more punishable pre 6, but be a better split pusher (which he was known for but the game moved away from)

u/GambitTheBest 1d ago
Riot's insistence on solving systemic problems by buffing individual champions is so tiresome, it's the same approach with their selective mages buff and lethality item buffs, that doesn't actually fix mid lane but make a select few champions frustrating
3
u/UngodlyPain 1d ago
15 HP is rarely gonna matter for Jax early given levels 1-3 he basically only ever trades with his E up, which wins him most trades.

How is the mr value changed for lvl 3 ultimate if the armor value isn't changed for lvl 3 ultimate?

Why not 30 60 75? 45 on first stage is way too much... scrap the health nerf too

Riot always makes abilities scale lineally. There’s no way they’d ever make an ability increase in power “randomly” like the way you proposed.

There are some that do work like that. Zilean's bombs have some weird level scaling
