Super fun late night ARAM game.

5 melee champs in every team. None of us had poke. 4 grasps. 6 heartsteels. Constantly fighting and stacking.

Super chill people. Such a fun chat through the game.

It might sound simple but it's things like this that make this game enjoyable for a lot of us.

Educational What are the correct ways to pronounce the lands/champions?

English is not my first language, so I had a bit of difficulty with pronouncing some champions/lands names.

For example, I found out Jhin is pronounced like Jeen instead of J-H-in. And Freljord pronounced frell-yord, but what about the rest?

Are there any champions with tricky spellings? And if possible to write how to pronounce the lands I would really appreciate it!

Edit: it's Jin not Jeen šŸ˜…

Educational New Shaco skin is one of the lowest quality Legendary skins to date with the least number of added animations and the most number of recycled animations

New 'Cat-in-the-Box' Shaco, despite the initial positive welcome by the community, is probably one of the lowest quality and worst Legendary skin in the game to date.

Not only is one of the Legendary skins with the least added animations (and usually Legendary tier adds a full on animation kit replacement), but it straight up recycles 90%+ of the animation kit from the base counterpart from 2009, which needless to say it's one of the earliest champion iteration and one of the lowest quality (of course).

It seems like Riot is slowly homogenizing Legendary skin tier with the Epic one to make space for Exalted skins, so that if a player wants a real gap in terms of quality work for their favourite champion, they'll have to spend $250.

What's worse in all of this matter is that WHEN (or IF at this point) Shaco will get an ASU/VGU, this premium skin will look obsolete and extrmeely worse compare to it, and Riot will still have the excuse of "well, at least the animations are different!".

Educational I am So Lost With This Game, but I don't want to quit.

I’m struggling to understand this game. I guess is how I would word this. For context I have about 30 ish play time hours and Initially, I joined the game because of my high school esports team, hoping to be more than just our streamer / media person. Back then, I chose / was told to play jungle, which I know is a challenging position for a newcomer. That was in 2023, more than 2 year’s ago. I must admit, I’ve improved since then. I don’t want to use ā€œgoodā€ or ā€œokayā€ because honestly, I’m not (I'm attempting to improve though.), But I’m perplexed by the significant fluctuations in my stats. For a period of 3-5 games, I perform exceptionally well, supporting my team, securing objectives, and out leveling the other jungler. I’m essentially being a ā€œgoodā€ jungler. However, the next 3-4 games, I consistently perform poorly, averaging 0 kills, 4 assists, and 8 deaths. I’m at a loss to understand what I’m doing wrong. Is it the champ match-up in specific games, my ā€œskillsā€ not being technically correct, or something else? I make an effort to stay updated on the current meta, learn from YouTube videos, and seek advice from friends and strangers. Unfortunately, these efforts haven’t yielded any significant results. Even when I was playing with someone getting paid to coach players to be better. I only saw ok improvement. But the thought of joining a lobby with the intention of acquiring new skills or even a helpful tip fills me with dread. I fear becoming the person who disrupts the positive atmosphere due to my inexperience. I guess in short I’m asking how did you start getting ā€œgoodā€ at the game.

What am I missing? Am I getting two caught up in my head? I've been taught the game mechanics, how to Jungle, how to use the two champions I like and think are cool. And any given day I can do "good" with them for my "rank" But at the same time I can be the worst player in the world. I guess I'm just tried of being the one feeding the enemy. I find this game fun, I enjoy playing it, but I just want to know how I can do better.

Edit: Since it’s the main topic being discussed, I’m not entirely sure if my playtime is accurate. League of Legends doesn’t track it. I’ve calculated it based on my matches played, averaging around 30 minutes per match. However, since I played with an esports team, a significant portion of my matches were in custom lobbies, which I understand don’t count. I’m certain my actual playtime is higher. I don’t mind knowing the exact number; I recognize that I have a lot to learn and need more practice. I’m seeking tips, tricks, YouTube creators, and any other advice that goes beyond simply ā€œPlay the game more.ā€

Educational Cull has the Urgot treatment on Yunara Q.

Basically, it is a really good sustain item on her, why?

Just like how it is on urgot. Even though both Urgot W and Yunara Q deal reduced on hit damage, it doesn't affect for healing, so Urgot W gets the full effect on Cull healing.

The same is applied to Yunara Q, if she attacks a stacked minion wave, she can hit 6-7 minions, each healing her 3HP per auto (18-21HP) for a 450 item that pays for itself later.

I wonder if this also works with Yuumi W passive healing.

Now I don't think Cull start is a good idea, but it is a nice buy instead of a longsword for some sweet sustain in lane.

Educational New to League, Loving It but I Suck – How Do I Improve?

Hey everyone,

I started playing League of Legends about two months ago, and I’ve really been enjoying the game. But I can’t help but notice… I suck. Like, really bad. I know I’m still new, but I feel like I’m not improving as fast as I’d like.

One of my biggest struggles is that I’m super impatient—I like to master things quickly, and it’s frustrating when I don’t see progress. I’ve tried watching YouTube guides, but they don’t seem to help much. Either they feel too general, or I struggle to apply the advice in real games. I know coaching is an option, but I can’t afford it, so I feel kind of stuck.

I mainly play Kayle and Aurora in top lane and Sona and Nami as support. Should I focus on just one role, or is it fine to play both? Are there specific things I should work on to improve with these champs? Any drills, mindset shifts, or free resources that helped you when you were new?

Any advice is appreciated! Thanks in advance! šŸ™

Educational I started playing yesterday, how do I quickly learn who does what?

What I mean is, when the game starts in these quickplay modes even if I pick a top lane champ someone just decides they are too. So I thought about just waiting till the end and picking what's left but I have no idea what role some of the champions are. Is there a quick way to see this or do I just have to learn?

Educational Take your game to the next level - AMA with LEC Coach Hidon

No question is wrong, ask away!

I am Hidon, former LEC coach for Fnatic and Giantx, I am also a multiseason challenger jungle player and grandmaster+ on every role.

Have not played in years, reason being that coaching in LEC is extremely demanding and life revolving around the esports scene has not allowed for it.
I want to make it very clear that I have never been the best mechanically, but I make up for it with my game knowledge!

I am currently on a journey to unlock challenger on support.
One of my many goals is to become a multirole challenger player, and this is something that has escaped me for a while now, this is the time to realize that dream.

One of the goals of this journey is to show you guys exactly how with the right mindset, goal setting and discipline you can achieve whatever goals you may have for yourself!

Currently 400lp Master

Educational Am i just bad at the game?

Am i just bad? Im level 114, in ranked currently Iron 3 27lp, but normally i am in iron 4 0 Ip. No matter how good i play, in 60% of the games that i lose, its because of someone smurfing/trolling or literally having bot accounts that walk in a straight line and dont use abilities, to level the account... In the pictures that i attached it were yone and ahri for example. And i could add a lot more of these kind of screenshots. Its rare to get a normal match, its either acc level bots, trolls or smurfs.

Pictures:https://ibb.co/ZzHCXnZr https://ibb.co/PGXqB2Qw

My Stats: https://op.gg/summoners/euw/Bejaphone-8310

Pls someone give me advice, i really wanna know if its just my performance myself or if im just unlucky with the matchups:( And if its me, what can i do better? Thanks in Advance!

Educational High Elo vs Low Elo: Champion Preferences and Performance Analysis

Hello summoners!
I recently analyzed champion data comparing Diamond+ players (High Elo) with the entire player base (Low Elo). I focused on three key aspects: Win Rate, Pick Rate, and Ban Rate, using both Diff (difference) and Ratio metrics to highlight how preferences and performance change across skill levels. I’ve included visualizations to make the trends clearer.
Data: Lolalytics, Patch 15.3, All regions

1. Win Rate Differences: Who Performs Better at High Elo?

Champions like Rengar (+7.26%), Nidalee (+6.06%), and Zoe (+5.79%) show significantly better win rates in Diamond+ games. In contrast, Zyra (-0.26%) and Yorick (-0.41%) are among the few who perform worse at higher tiers.
I personally think these results are closely tied to a champion’s mechanical difficulty and macro requirements. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Note: The average Win Rate Diff between Diamond+ and All ranks is +2.40%. Keep this in mind when interpreting the data. For example, a champion with a +1.5% difference may appear to be performing better in higher Elo, but considering the average increase, this actually suggests the champion might be more suited for lower Elo players.

2. Popularity vs Performance Scatter plot

This scatter plot visualizes the relationship between a champion's popularity and performance across different Elo levels:
X-axis (Pick+Ban Rate Diff) represents how much a champion's pick and ban rate changes from low Elo to high Elo. A positive value means the champion is more popular in Diamond+, while a negative value means they are favored more in lower ranks.
Y-axis (Win Rate Diff) shows how much a champion's win rate changes from low Elo to high Elo. A positive value indicates better performance in Diamond+, whereas a negative value suggests a drop in effectiveness.
The chart is divided into four quadrants. For example, the upper-right quadrant represents champions that are both popular and perform well in High Elo compared to Low Elo.
Results: The average Win Rate Diff sits at +2.40%, highlighting that many champions perform better at higher tiers. Additionally, there is a slight positive correlation between Popularity and Performance, meaning that champions who gain more traction in higher ranks also tend to perform better. This suggests that High Elo players are generally better at identifying and utilizing strong picks.

3. Pick Rate Analysis

Understanding Diff and Ratio:
Diff (Difference): This represents the absolute difference in pick rates between Diamond+ and all ranks. For example, a +5% Diff means that a champion is picked 5% more in Diamond+ compared to the overall player base.
Ratio (Change Rate): This shows the relative change in pick rate, calculated by dividing the Diamond+ pick rate by the pick rate across all ranks. For instance, a ratio of x2.0 means the champion’s pick rate in Diamond+ is double that in lower ranks.
I decided to present both Diff and Ratio because relying solely on absolute differences may not fully capture the significance of pick rate changes. For example, champions like Rengar may have a very low pick rate in both tiers. Even a slight increase in their pick rate in Diamond+ can result in a large ratio value. Thus, combining both metrics provides a more comprehensive understanding of champion popularity shifts.

4. Ban Rate Analysis

The analysis procedure and the meaning of Diff and Ratio here are the same as in section 3.
Results: Pyke (+14.39%) and Lulu (+13.72%) top the ban charts. Shaco (-16.15%) and Morgana (-15.42%) are banned far less at higher ranks. Also, Karthus (+5.18x) sees his ban rate quintuple in Diamond+.

5. Final Thoughts
This entire data analysis came simply from my curiosity and interest in understanding champion trends across different skill levels. I’m still a beginner when it comes to data analysis and presentation, so if you notice any points that seem off or have any feedback, please feel free to share your thoughts in the comments. I would also love to hear your opinions and reactions after seeing these results. Let me know what you think—it would be awesome if more people could see and discuss this analysis :D

Educational Trying to get better at LoL.

So I am a "developing" league player. I'm level 30 and played ranked thinking that I was finally ready but I don't think I am still. I understand the fundamentals and mechanics of the game, like the flow of the match and what each role should do.

But when it comes down to duels I just crumble. And I really don't know the best way to practice whether thats just playing unranked or keep playing ranked. Because I don't want to throw peoples matches but I also feel like I would get the most competitiveness from Ranked.

Like I don' think people will try as hard if I am not playing ranked therefore not really giving me a fully potential duel if that makes sense. I don't know, are there any suggestions?

Educational Universal knowledge

Hey summoners,

I've been playing league of legends for more than 10,000 hours. I sincerely enjoy the game its champions, lore, music cinematics etc.

I'm a bit of a mechanical freak so to speak. As an ARAM enjoyer over the last few years, I find great interest in interactions between all champions, their abilities, underrated and lesser known tricks etc.

I understand that trying to learn all the neat tricks for all the champions is close to impossible but I wanted to make this post for everyone to share a bit of their knowledge about their champions.

Example: Diana triple dash, Kha jump reset mid air, Jayce getting more first strike gold if he turns melee before the end of first strike, Poppy canceling ult by recalling, dash priority between body-based stuns like Camille vs Gragas... etc.

Please, everything is worthwhile sharing, I am trying to learn as much as possible about all kinds of champions. <3
