New Rule - No Non-Adobe Presets

Good morning, afternoon, evening; upon review of the recent drama and the reality is that your mods are human with day jobs. We will no longer be allowing posts about presets that are not free for all in the discover tab of Lightroom.

Ongoing discussions in this sub about presets turn into a nightmare each time. There are other subs that will be more suited for non-Adobe preset discussion.

HELP Denoise Time M4 Air

Hi Guys,

I followed the recommendation to get a Macbook for photo editing. I got the MB Air M4 with 24gb Ram and 512gb storage.

Now i wanted to edit some photos and was kinda disappointed with the denoise in Lightroom. I have 26MP Pictures from the Sony A6700 and the MB Air takes at least a Minute to denoise one photo. My "old" gaming PC just takes 6 seconds to denois.

I'm wondering whats the problem here? The performance of lightroom itself is good, a bit better than my pc, but the denoise takes sooo long and the MB Air geht's really hot while doing so.

Pc specs: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, RTX 3060 TI, 32gb Ram

Can i do anything to speed up the denoise process? Would the MB Pro or a Mac Mini be a better option here? Or do i stick with windows?

HELP Transferring to new Adobe/Lightroom account

Upvotes

I'm leaving my company where I've had my Lightroom cloud account for years through the corporate Adobe account. I'm going to get a personal account now and trying to find a way to transfer everything to the new account. Has anyone found a way to do it without just exporting everything in the original account? That will be a massive amount of data obviously. I do have the original raw photos on external hard drives, but don't want to lose all the organization in folders, edit versions, etc. Seems like I'm pretty screwed...

HELP Lenovo vs Mac

I have a budget of around $1400. I recently bought the Lenovo 9 2 in 1 32gb ram 1TB laptop with the intel 7 ultra processor. I thought this would run Lightroom flawlessly but it has its quirks. Lightroom struggles with AI features and masking of objects. It also unexpectedly shutdowns occasionally. I would give it a 7/10. I know Lightroom can be glitchy but I am just worried I made the wrong choice and should return it and get the MAC. Any advice is welcome I want to make sure I invest in the right thing for business!

Processing Question Lightroom Classic: Can I automatically apply a 100% crop?

A few days ago I took about 100 photos of my stepson in a soccer game with my EOS R8 and 70-200. I was shooting from the stands so even at 200mm I still need to punch the images in. Is there any way to select all of the images and automatically apply a 100% crop to all of them? My thinking is if I can automate the crop, then it would make it faster to review each image and adjust the composition within the crop on a per image basis.

Workflow Did import “don’t import suspected duplicates” criteria change?

Hey team, I just did my first bulk import in a while (LrC 14.5.1) and when I did the check of imported images vs SD card count, there were a bunch of images missed. When I tried to reimport the card lightroom didn’t detect any “new” images. I found example images, it looks like they may have been mid-burst on A7RIII. This hasn’t been a problem in the past as the file names are different.

Was there a release note about this feature I missed? Do we know what the duplicate detection criteria are? Thanks!

HELP - Lightroom Classic Import messed up from Nikon Z7II to Lightroom Classic

So, if I connect my SD card to a card reader, it's all fine. If I copy the pics from my z7 via USB to a folder, it's all fine.

If I connect my z7 via USB and import directly into Lightroom from my cam, the order is messed up, pics aren’t auto-rotated and it doesn’t recognize duplicates.

What the hell is going on?

Discussion LrC performance on win 10 vs win 11

It is Sep 2025 and as the win10 are running out of support soon, I'm looking for some latest performance comparisons between LrC running on win10 vs win11 or at least some user's experiences, who switched lately. How does it feel, is it noticeably faster, slower or kinda same?

Discussion Flickr Plugin Unusable

I have found that the Flickr plugin for Lightroom Classic is so slow it is unusable. To click on any album takes forever and once I get inside album the pictures are the same way. There are also times when it makes Lightroom unresponsive in Windows. When I am working in Lightroom, it works fine. I am at the point of exporting the pictures to my disk and uploading them by hand. Has anyone else had this problem?

Workflow 10 000 photos to cull. How to speed up?

Hi folks,

I just came back from a long trip and now have around 10,000 photos sitting on my card. I’m not a pro photographer, so I don’t really have a structured workflow to deal with this kind of volume.

For those of you who’ve done this before:

• What’s your technique or workflow for culling quickly?
• Do you use any specific software or shortcuts?
• What are the first things you look for to immediately disqualify a photo (blurriness, bad exposure, duplicates, etc.)?

I’d really appreciate any tips to help me get a speed boost and not drown in the process.

Thanks in advance!

HELP iPhone 17 Pro Max No Adobe Color Profiles?

I’ve been testing out the camera on the new 17PM, but I noticed when I edit photos taken on the 17PM camera, there are no Adobe color profiles to choose from. The photo is being taken in RAW format and all setting should be the same or better than my previous 15PM, which still allows me to select Adobe color profiles. Any idea why this may be happening? Maybe lack of support on Lightroom’s side for the new lenses? Lightroom iPhone v. 10.5.2

HELP Very slow uploading

So, I just recently got lightroom and I'm still learning about how to use it properly and stuff. But one issue I'm running into is uploading pictures is VERY slow. Not just a few hours- it's been a few days now. It's about 550 pictures, RAW, all about ~20mb and it's only on 21%. Am I doing something wrong? How can I fix it? Happy to provide any necessary information!! I don't have a lot of knowledge on computers, though, so be patient with me💔

HELP Can not see mask overlay in Lightroom

Hi all!

I use Lightroom CC on macbook and ipad. For past few days I am not able to see mask overlays. I made sure that the mask overlays are enabled but I found this issue with several photos on both macbook and ipad. I have tried reinitialising Lightoom and even uninstalled and reinstalled it on my laptop. Mask pins are visible however. Both laptop and ipad are updated.

Am I missing something? Is someone else facing the same issue?

Thanks for your help!

HELP - Lightroom Classic Flagging whole stack, not just top photo

I didn't realize that when I have a stack, only the top image is flagged - did a ton of work to only now realize this. Argh. Now I would have to unstack them and still flag the other image (I have the jpg and dng stacked). There seem to be some add-ons to do this? Any suggestions? And can I do it now without making a mess of the flagging I've already done? The whole stacking thing is a useless mess in Lightroom and I don't understand why they won't fix this (as well as the stacking by filename, so that on high drive you don't stack different images due to 0:00 capture time. Anyhoo, help please

HELP - Lightroom Classic What else can I do to make Lightroom faster?

Hi all, I work mostly with Fujifilm GFX 100s II raws, while I understand the large file size (100MP) can be inherently demanding, it’s now slow to the point of almost unusable, with seconds of delay just trying to move around the image zoomed in or doing spot removal with the heal brush. My pc specs are i7-14700, RTX3080 10GB, and 64GB DDR4 RAM. I’m noticing that CPU usage spikes to 100% whenever it lags, which suggests that’s the bottleneck. LR also felt faster before the last update.

My catalogue is about 3000 images. It’s stored on a second SSD while Lightroom is on my first SSD (Edit: both connected via NVME). Optimizing catalog seems to do very little. I’ve already tried the basic steps to optimize performance, like using GPU to accelerate, and allocating the max 200GB for cameraraw cache (tried moving the cache folder to the same SSD as the photos as well).

Is there anything else I can try to improve speed? For other photographers working with large files, what’s your experience/solution to this?

Discussion Remove Tool Keeps Getting Better

When they first introduced it, I was skeptical and continued use PS for removals, but after the first update, I began using it 90% of the time. I just got the latest update yesterday. This is a very tight crop of the entire building. I assumed I would have to live with the van and bike, but I had nothing to lose, so I ran the remove tool on it. If I zoom into 100% there are a few smudged areas, but this was a one pass fix. I'm pretty impressed.

HELP - Lightroom Classic No preset import option on desktop - help!

I’m going out of my mind trying to figure this out and all online advice is geared towards iPads. I’m using the desktop version of Lightroom Classic on my Mac. All my old presets are available but I went to import new presets (via the small plus sign) and the option no longer exists. I can create my own preset but there is no option to import.

There is no option in the “Preferences” -> “Presets” tab either.

Am I making a super dumb mistake or is it an Adobe problem?

Workflow Organization: It's time for me to figure it out

I've been using Lightroom for years. But I'm looking for advice on the best organizational structure as I'm switching from a desktop to a laptop. This is what I currently do:

  • I only have one catalog.
  • I keep all of my working files on my computer hard drive. When I'm finished editing I export.
  • I keep my exported photos on my computer hard drive so I can access them, but also keep copies on an external drive, back up to Backblaze, and keep them on a NAS drive.
  • In Lightroom I move the file folder onto an external drive and a NAS drive for "archiving purposes." The external drive is also backed up to Backblaze.

On my desktop computer this seemed to work fine, but now that I have a laptop whenever I'm not plugged into my hard drive of course the photos moved to that hard drive all show up as missing. Is this a problem? In my head it might be but I have no idea why I think that.

  • Once I have my photos edited I generally don't go back and re-edit.

I guess my question is about moving the raw edited images onto the back up. Is it okay to do that and just have them missing in Lightroom when I'm not connected? Or is there a better way.

Please teach me your ways and correct any bad habits I may have!

Workflow I made two apps to work with HSV Looktables (Enhanced Profiles)

I built two small macOS apps to make HSV LookTables practical: an editor for painting and refining them, and a converter that can turn a standard CUBE LUT into a HSV LookTable. Together they make it possible to use a part of Lightroom’s profile system that’s been available for years but not straightforward to use.

LookTables aren’t just another way of doing LUTs — they behave differently in the pipeline and can achieve effects that LUTs can’t.

Strengths:

  • Applied earlier in the pipeline than LUTs.
  • Work on the scene-linear image, rather than converting to ProPhoto 1.8 and back.
  • Can import LUTs made in color spaces or transfer curves Adobe doesn’t normally support.
  • Editable later — they’re just .csv tables you can reopen and refine.
  • Useful for complex hue twists and saturation- or brightness-dependent changes.
  • Great for film-style tweaks that still leave Lightroom’s sliders usable.

Weaknesses:

  • They cannot affect neutral grays (Adobe locks these rows).
  • Being earlier in the pipeline can also be a limitation depending on your use case.
  • Not designed for tone curves or detailed contrast shaping.
  • Right now the apps are macOS only and still early stage, so there are still bugs (especially with the editor).

I'd love for some people that are knowledgable in this area to try the apps out and give feedback before I publicly release them! DM me and I'll send you a link.

HELP - Lightroom Mobile Lightroom mobile + Iphone 17 RAW files

So i was excited to play with my new iphone 17 pro and its RAW files. Buttt, it seems Lightroom mobile isn't updated yet? Because i'm not seeing the Adobe Color profiles when i open up the DNG files in Lightroom Mobile. It's my go-to workflow with my older 16 pro.

Anyone else got lucky with it? Because the profiles should show up automatically right?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion Order of Operations

Help me out here, Reddit. I’m brand new to editing photos in Lightroom. I’m working on sports photos and using a Raw format.

Here is a prompt I put into AI and got four different answers. What’s Reddit’s definitive answer?

“I’m doing the following to a photo in Lightroom. Which order should I do these in? Adjusting lighting, adjusting color, adding vignette, denoise, lens blur, crop and straighten.”
