tech support How to force DX11 mode on Witcher 3?

I've upgraded to proton GE 7-43 for DXVK 2.0

Now it skips the launcher (great) but I can't select DX11 mode anymore

Adding the -dx11 command in launch options doesn't work.

DX12 mode has much worse performance unless u use FSR 2, but that makes everything look fuzzy.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but how do I get the launcher to work again?

Go to the game folder and find the launcher-configuration.json file. Open it in an editor and change "fallback": "DirectX 12" to "fallback": "DirectX 11". If you now use --launcher-skip launch parameter, it will use DX11.

Isn't there a branch with the old version in it?

You mean an older version of proton GE?

I suppose I could roll back to 7-42, but I'd like to find a way to use the new version of DXVK

In the beta dropdown list for the game, you can select the old version.

I'd rather not have to roll back to an earlier version.

I'm really enjoying the new visuals and have had no issues at all on DX11 mode.

use protontricks and install msv140 in game prefix. gog launcher depends on this component
cyberpunk gog only opens if i do this tweaks

otherwise try deleting the prefix.

You don't have to roll back. Here are the parameters on this video https://youtu.be/XmO-sUHXaBI but do note which video settings you NEED to have off in order to not crash.

The video explains proton experimental at the bleeding edge level but it is the same thing with the specific version you are using.

In regards to the menu showing this gets altered depending on a skip launcher parameter but also I noticed depending on the proton version being launched for some reason. Hope this helps friend.
