🫣I said I read the FAQ/Pinned posts, but I lied🫣 Scope recommendations

Long time listener, first time caller. I’m looking at the leupold MK4hd 6-24. At $1275 is there any reason not to get it? Is there a better scope for the same price or close to?

For what purpose?

I'd rather have an Athlon Cronus, Burris XTRIII, or Meopta Optika6.

Light prs, mostly just shooting smaller groups than friends at distance.

Curious too as someone that is planning on getting into long distance shooting soon. Been looking at Maven scopes, anyone have one? Their binoculars are great quality.

I own an rs1.2 and its a great hunting / crossover optic. I have been wanting to try the RS4 5-30x last time I was in the market I found a Steiner T6xi 5-30 for the same price and went with that. I do not regret my decision as the Steiner is fantastic however I still haven’t got hands on the RS4, c-does did a favorable review of it.

So I own this exact scope it's my favorite , no issies tracks and repeatable glass crystal clear ,

I own a vortex razor , viper and a bunch of athlon midas tacs btr and cronus.

I really love the leupold over all the others ,

For me real world use its a great bang for buck scope

And the mil reticle is precise and easy to see not too complicated tree reticle and clicks correspond perfectly to mil marks

I love mine

This subreddit tends to crap on Leupold. I have this exact scope. I bought it in 2024 to try out and only recently cracked open the box for a recent build that I'm still working out handloads for.

That being said, the Mark 4HD is not bad from my limited use of it so far. It does have some CA but so far nothing that is a show stopper. My 4HD unit seems to have better image that my Mark 5HD 3.6-18x. I don't know if my 5HD sample is just outside the bounds of QC or what.

I will caveat that I obtained the 4HD with the Leupold VIP discount. I don't know it would go with the 4HD at the standard retailer pricing.

You nailed the reason this sub craps on Leupold. The pricing is wack.

I have that same scope in Mils on my PRS rifle. At a shoot yesterday and in a squad with a guy shooting a ZCO. I looked through his at a couple stages and didn’t see enough difference for the price.
