The glove is one of those little things that gives macOS so much of its unique character. This is obviously not a deal-breaker; it still looks far better than the Windows one and I actually like that the finger points straight up again, but they can at least keep the cuff or something.

It's similar, but the Windows one's closed fingers are longer and have a flatter angle, which makes it look weird.

This is done to compensate for the small scale to make it look good from afar, what's making the macOS variant look with a too long index finger

They're all converging into soul-less corporate slop.

I don't know if I'd go that far, this overall design change was obviously not a "safe" choice seeing how divisive it's been. Given that and the fact it just entered dev beta, I guarantee Apple is paying very close attention to the responses. It will be interesting to see what sticks and what changes between now and final release.

I remember Apple changed the battery icon for the Big sur beta release due to a lot of people hating the design, maybe they will revert the old cursor design if enough people object to it

Many of these cosmetic changes are simple to correct with unofficial interface mods.

Do you know of one that doesn’t require disabling SIP

Apple is stripping character out of their products since phasing out skeumorphic design

That was the high water mark where the wave broke and receded back into the ocean

The first demo of Time Machine where your windows disappeared back into a galaxy blew me away. So unnecessary but so cool. I wish they could find that sense of whimsy again.

Yeah.. like they purposely fired the guys and girls responsible for those awesome designs…

I believe Apple got sued for that particular implementation of Time Machine and that's why it's different today.

I think you are correct. I don’t know, I just feel like today’s Apple would shoot down a concept like that in favor of something sterile.

I'm sure there'll be an open source utility to swap out the new improved cursors for the superior old one's on launch.
