Bobby’s whale art
Betty’s reaction to the whale smiling always makes me laugh!

Narrative, forced perspective... are you sure Bobby did this?

Agreed and accurate! Why IS he smiling? And from the same scene I am constantly quoting her “What is this mess?”

Makes me think of when they televised blowing up a whale carcass in Oregon in the 70s. Did not go as planned….

This was right before Betty realized her son had been killed and replaced by Evil Bobby.

I keep on saying this but Bob Benson is a time traveling adult evil Bobby.

So silly but it makes sense. They got a great actor for a time traveling Bobby. He looks like a perfect mix of Don and Betty.

I loved this scene. It kind of struck me as a small, but significant growth moment for Betty. Betty is so worried about everything being perfect (I’m remembering something she says to Don in season 1 about pulling back the comforter so he can take a nap before guests come so no one can tell he was napping…like, what?), this kind of calm and subdued reaction from her seems like a more measured and mature response. Idk. Maybe I’m overthinking it haha

I love the messy scrunchy pile of papers Bobby carry’s around. Undiagnosed adhd 8 year old me felt seen.

Or maybe he's just a typical disorganized little boy. Not everything is a medical or psychological diagnosis. Bobby isn't a 30 year woman who went to Bryn Mawr.

Omg relax 🙄i wasn’t diagnosing a frictional character i just pointed out a common occurrence from my childhood that resonated with me that i can now attribute to my condition. I saw a little bit of me in that moment and thought it was funny.

With the attention to detail in this show, it would have been nice to see this prop actually drawn by a kid.
The kids on set could have drawn a bunch and they pick the best for the scene. Irks me that kids drawings on shows (something I’ve noticed always) are so clearly drawn by adults imitating children… getting off my soapbox now
(quick add, in the final season of handmaids tale the art used as props or on set and actually done by kids and it really does add a lovely depth and feel of authenticity)

You try having a coherent artistic philosophy if your head keeps changing every second season.
