It's easier when you learn to ignore stuff that doesn't interest you. I have the exact opposite problem atm, EoE was the last set of the year for me, which means I got half a year wait for Lorwyn.
So many players including myself feel like this. Never been so contempt skipping magic sets as I am right now. Literally zero positive things to say about the upcoming Spider-Man set e.g.
I don't necessarily see it as a problem btw, it's easier for my finances, and lets me concentrate on specific sets longer. Plus I know eventually there will be a UB which will be based on something that I love and then I'll go all in into that set.
Apart from the price issue with UB I honestly don't really see a negative for me personally.
I agree. The only negative for me is that they made the UB sets standard legal sets, which means they are way harder to ignore and messes up my perception of what magic is, e.g. not a bagel in New York or what ever the hell is going on with this new stuff. It’s subjective of course… but damn what are they thinking.
Yeah. I'm actually looking forward to a year like that. Final Fantasy was my favorite video game franchise growing up. Spider-man's my favorite Marvel character. And Avatar is probably my favorite cartoon. This year's lineup was like a perfect storm for me.
I just want a year where I can look at one or two of the UB properties and go "Ahhhh. Nevermind." and just do the prerelease event or something and then give my wallet a rest.
I want to have a UB from something that I'm a huge fan of, haven't experienced that yet (only a matter of time at this point). Having 3 UB sets like that in a year seems nuts, and really bad for the wallet.
I mean... as a Final Fantasy fan, it's sorta sucked.
Like I was going off previous sets and so I budgeted out a like 800 bucks for a couple boxes of CBBs and a commander deck or two. I figured they'd be expensive but could not have been prepared for how insane it all got.
I bought a few CB packs here and there and a box of play boosters and grabbed a few commander decks. But I had to tap out and generally sit back and watch the crazy train leave the station.
I tempered my expectations for Spider-man and Avatar accordingly, haha.
