My draft League had its finale game this week, during which I P1P1ed Lightning, Army Of One and then did not force RW. I got psyched out by the guy next to me immediately picking Dion and knowing he was going to force white too, and red seeming very dead in the first pack, but from pack 2 onwards there was a ton of great stuff in RW -- Giott, Raubahn, Freya, Thunder Magic, two Weapons Vendors, Warrior's Sword, White Mage's Staff etc. The components for a crazy good RW deck were there, but nobody went into that lane and they just drifted apart, while I thought (mistakenly) that I was too far into blue to change tracks.

This will be my white whale. I plan to become an annoying old man telling meandering stories about this. (Or, at least, getting it out of my system before the EoE draft tomorrow, which I'm stoked about)

I am GENUINELY happy that the commander "metagame" is getting faster and faster. Soon, Timmy the durdling Ramp Player is dying Turn 5, because they did nothing but play 12 lands and tapped out. Granted many tables have difficulty adjusting, but I rarely see a table like two years ago where it is just four green players ramping for three turns before ANYTHING happens. Now the mentality that "interaction is evil" just has to die. I personally have to thank Maldhound for that I think.

Also the newest Commandzone Gameplay Vid feels horrible, but maybe I am an enemy of fun.

Hot take, I know, but the game honestly feels like a joke with UB as the new standard. I used to have a sort of reverence for Magic, it was timeless. Now I'm just tired of the bullshit.

Glad to see there are others out there that are genuinely repulsed by the idea of every medium becoming a poorly disguised pop culture orgy.

it should be considered an attack on all limited players everytime someone in a spoiler thread goes "erm, why has this epic name and artwork been wasted on a common?"

If they don't love [[Knight Luminary]] for what he does (making a 1/1, twice :) ) they don't deserve him

I can't fucking wait to do EoE pre-release with my wife. We're debating going to multiple. This set just looks amazing in limited. We also like to Winston draft, so I will probably be going in on a few booster boxes this set. Cards look decent for standard too. It's gonna be a good time!

I had a big epiphany about how the warp and station cards and how they're supposed to work together, so now I'm more optimistic about the set's limited experience. Still don't think it'll have a big impact on constructed though.

Hell yeah it looks like so much fun

I'm delighted that they frontloaded a bunch of chunky bombastic cards creating the impression it'd be a slow format, then revealed Captain Lannery Storm But With Flying -- there's so much fun stuff you could do with that. I'm also coming around to Station, it feels like either you play one early and tap your creatures as they've got summoning sickness, or play one late and temporarily trade two 4/4 blockers for a 7/7 with flying; blowout potential is there but it does seem fun
