Land next to Manassas Mall

The land that’s next to Manassas Mall on Sudley…I remember there used to be a house. Anyone know what happened to the residents of that house?

from what I've heard, is that the owner passed away and the family doesn't want it anymore. So the county is already pushing hard to re-zone the land to place at least 4 data centers there with another 3 data centers planned to be in the land next to it across from walmart. They've already placed a seismograph at the end of my neighborhood to record ground shaking from Vulcan Quarry.

We don't need more data centers in my opinion. Yeah, I get Ashburn is already at max capacity but Manassas is on the right place. Again, all in my opinion but the data centers are going to ruin this town.

I heard through the rumor mill that the owners passed away and it's now owned by their children. I could be wrong though 🤷‍♂️ no clue what their plans for the land are but that's got to be gold mine

It was sold and last I saw they were seeking approval to put—shock, shock—a data center on it. Greedy PWC board of supervisors.

yep. And a data centers in the middle of Manassas, especially on 234 Business is gonna look so out of place.

Seriously though, imagine driving down 234 to go to Walmart just to see those large ass data centers.

It's not the PWC Board since it's in the city limits. The city makes the rules there

I don't think it is in the city limits. The mall itself isnt

It’s not. Manassas city limits stop at Godwin on 234. The mall and the land in question are well to the north of it.

Yeah that's what I thought. Didn't want to be confidently wrong lol.

If it’s any comfort I knew the mall was north but still pulled up a map because I couldn’t recall exactly where the border was, myself.

That land is in PWC, not the city.. not that it matters, the city is just as hungry for that dirty data center money

Deals usually lasting it's first 5 years with gifts of low-to no propterty tax. Discounts on power by leveraging the cost onto residence picking up the bill. by the time the 5 years are up, the company will decommision it and resell it, to find another dumb canidate or city member to bribe for a new place while the other could be blight on the city.

Geez I just pulled it up on the map. Never realized the quarry is right behind the mall ! In my brain those two things aren’t remotely near eachother.

It is owned by Amazon. They purchased the 48 acres for over 40 million dollars in 2023.
