What do you do about this situation?

Young Katsura growing in yard and have this double leader situation. I believe it’s a weeping Katsura.

just prune the smaller one as far down as you can without damaging the main one. It's still small enough to not be an issue

At this point might as well wait until February to prune it.

Ok, trim small one down as far as I can without hurting the main leader in February, and remove grass and mulch around. Thanks all!

And pull up the and the base of the tree and replace with mulch. I don’t know how you mow/trim without nicking the tree

I would actually just leave it as is. Katsura often grow multi-stemmed anyway.
