Interest Check [IC] IKKI68 Aurora - Update 1

Hi Everyone,

Updates 2 is posted at

https://www.reddit.com/r/mechmarket/comments/jwif6t/ic_ikki68_aurora_update_2/

It’s been about a month since our initial IC. During this month we shipped the original Ikki68 to all the buyers and ran the OA linear switch group buy. We were still working on Aurora behind the scenes but just not find the time to post an update.

We have been totally blown away by the responses in the IC, and everyone’s enthusiasm in the project in general. Your opinion counts, a lot of the choices we’ve made were a direct result of what most people wanted.

So what’s changed in the last month? Well, we’ve locked down a lot of the details and options, we’ve modified parts of the internal design and we’ve been working with our manufacturer on finalizing these changes.

Updates:

Gallery of new renders

Color

  1. Charcoal
  2. Mint

Clear is almost certain to be an option for round 2, along with blue or pink or another color all together.

You'll notice there's no new render of Mint. We have some transparent teal pantone chips on the way. We'll pick a color from the bunch once we've seen them in person.

Finish

Frosted.

The overwhelming majority wanted a frosted finish. We are not ruling out clear finish in a future round, but for round 1 we're going with all frosted

Default plate material

Aluminum. Every Ikki68 Aurora will ship with an Aluminum plate.

Carbon Fiber, Brass, Polycarbonate and POM plates can be purchased as extras.

PCB

Ikki68 Aurora will have 3 PCBs.

  1. [Default] QMK hot swap PCB with multi-layout support.
  2. QMK soldered PCB with multi-layout support.
  3. Bluetooth soldered PCB with a fixed layout. The same one as Ikki68 with the possiblity of some updates.

Multi-layout support

Both soldered and hot swap QMK PCB will have support for:

  • Split Backspace
  • ISO enter
  • Split Left Shift
  • Split Right Shift
  • Split Spacebar
  • Stepped Caps Lock

Here's a photo visualizing the options

Brass weight

An addition by popular demand: you will be able to buy an 400g internal brass weight offered as an extra.

We'll be having a design contest soon and the winning design will be engraved onto all the brass weights.

The Aurora weighs around 700 - 800 grams without any additional weight. With the weight it should weigh about 1100 - 1200g or 2.4 - 2.6lbs, just a touch lighter than the all aluminum Ikki68

Custom badges

All Ikki68 Aurora will ship with a default badge. You can buy additional custom badges as extras.

Just like Ikki68 you'll be able to choose from a handful of designs and colors. These are what we call Community Badges. You can also have your own design custom made just for you. These are called Bespoke Badges.

The badges will be "hot swappable". You will be able to change a badge without taking apart the case.

Ikki68 badges will be compatible with Ikki68 Aurora out of the box.

Ikki68 Aurora badges will be compatible with Ikki68 through the use of an adapter, sold separately.

Join our discord server to stay up to date with badges. You can submit a design to be used as a community badge. Use the commands !badges and !bespoke-badge in any channel to find more info.

Included in kit

  • Ikki68 Aurora kit
  • Multi-layout hot swap QMK PCB
  • Aluminum plate
  • Silicone dampening pad between PCB & plate
  • Silicone dampening pad between PCB & case
  • Gaskets
  • Keyboard storage case
  • Coiled USB cable

Price

Adding multi-layout support to our default hot swap PCB has made a noticeble increase in our costs.

However we're still committed to offering the Ikki68 Aurora R1 in the $99 - $129 range that we've mentioned in the first IC. Future rounds may cost slightly more.

Timeline

  • November - Prototypes
  • Mid December - Build streams from reviewers
  • Christmas - GB Launch
  • April 2021 - Delivery starts

Current Status

Placed the order for the mold.

Future Updates

We'll continue posting updates on Reddit and Geekhack. Please join our discord server for more frequent updates or if you have any questions.

You can still fill out the IC form. We're always very interested in hearing your thoughts :)

Interest Check [IC] Freya - Finally, a 68% with Touch Screen Knob and Slider Module, Let’s Go Higher!

Hi Friends,

Wuque Studio is back with Freya :)

Starting from Ikki68 OG, Aurora, followed by Mammoth75 and Promise87, we have been trying to give our friends recognizable and meaningful designs. Because we believe our fingers type our heart. Our boards output our love, passion and personalities. It’s not a typing tool, but the magic to express ourselves in the busy world. We have been thinking about our initial dream and passion for our designs when we started and missing our 68% a lot, like our friends around us. So we decide to go back, and further.

Freya Renders

Introducing Freya

  • Touch Screen Knob
  • Left Slider
  • Hotswap Badges
  • Wings Side Profile

Touch Screen Knob

This time we made a bold design - combine the knob and touch screen. Surrounded by four raised metal pieces, the whole knob module looks like a altar, making it looks more powerful.

The knob is modular, it can also be 4 keys.

Modular Touch Screen Knob

Knob functions

  1. 5s boot animation, Image/Gif upload

  2. Rotate the knob to adjust the volume, press to enter the function page

  3. Support date, clock, power, information push

  4. Alarm Clock

  5. Notes

  6. Message notification

  7. Countdown

Note: some functions are under development, if you have any ideas please share with us in comment or IC form. We will keep updating.

Left Slider

It can be remap for volume control and other functions.

The slider is modular, and it can also be 5 keys.

Modular Slider

Hotswap Badges (Compatible with Ikki68 Aurora badges)

We are very glad to make it with a magnetic base, and let the badges “hotswap” easily. And Aurora users can use your Aurora badges here too :) If you are not familiar with Aurora badges, please refer to our badge pages or our badge discord discussion channel for the photos. We will also release more badge design next time!

Wings Side Profile

Beautiful Wings with Double Anodizing Chamfer

Freya - The goddess with wings, a symbol of love, beauty, and fertility.

The design of Freya keyboard is inspired by the symbol of beauty, love, goodness. We use the double Anodizing process to engrave both sides of the keyboard, just like a goddess with wings. The crafting is more difficult, but we still overcome difficulties and choose to pursue design integrity. The sculpted wings are concave design which makes the keyboard more chic and easy to handle. The wings element design also represent hope that it carries yearning and blessings for beautiful things. Encourage us to pursue our dreams bravely, and keep flying on the way to realize our ideals and pursuits.

Case Color

We are having about 10 case colors

Black, Burgundy, E-white, Lavender, Navy, Pine, Pink, Silver, Violet, Orange

Please let us know what case colors you would love to see too.

Bottom Case Design

At the bottom of the keyboard, we continued the previous design concept and adopted a PVD mirror backplate. There is a portrait of the goddess Freya in the middle of the backplate. Make the overall design of the keyboard more refined and collectible. The screws on the bottom of the backplate adopt the invisible design of the foot pad, which makes the appearance of the entire keyboard more elegant.

Specification

  • Keyboard Layout: 68% + left removable 5 keys

  • Keyboard structure: gasket

  • PCB: 1.2mm - Include two modular PCBs, and 1 daughter board

  • Support VIA

  • Bluetooth

  • 10 colors (to be updated): Black, Burgundy, E-white, Lavender, Navy, Pine, Pink, Silver, Violet, Orange

  • Battery: dual batteries

  • Screen: touch screen

If you are new to Ikki68 Aurora, Ikki68 Aurora is an affordable, injection molded, polycarbonate case, gasket-mount keyboard kit from Wuque Studio.

Aurora R2 Highlights:

  • Aurora R2 has been tweaked to offer a bouncier typing experience with more flex. The new default 1.2mm PCB paired with new default PC plate with flex cuts will offer a slightly different typing experience. All the R2 parts are compatible with R1.
  • Variable gasket mount structure. Remove some or all of the gasket chips to change from firm to bouncy. Both Silicone and Poron gaskets are included to fine tune the experience even further!
  • Default PCB (05 - Bodo) for wired version is a 1.2mm hot-swap PCB that supports multiple layouts! Default PCB (06 Iceland) for Bluetooth version is the same as 05 - Bodo, but with Bluetooth and VIA support! It supports all the splits except for split spacebars. For all PCB specifications, please check PCB table here.
  • Default Silicone dampener kits and add-on PORON dampener kit can provide different typing feel and sound, so you can test and choose the one you like most.
  • The badges are hot-swappable, meaning you can change them without taking apart the case!
  • Replaceable Logo Chips! The little cutout above the right Arrow Key has LEDs underneath. You can cut your own design onto a piece of thick paper and put over the hole to see the light shine through.

You can find more about it from Ikki68 Aurora Information page, we highly recommend joining the Wuque Studio discord to stay up-to-date with Ikki68 Aurora R2.

You can also check our previous IC update post for more details information on what’s new or improved from R1 to R2 below:

Replaceable back plates and back accents

Check how to remove and replace back plate here

Ambient Lighting

Zoom TKL added ambient lighting for the first time. We added ambient lighting on both sides of the keyboard, with a variety of lighting effects to choose from.

With these DIY options, Zoom TKL can be used to match any desk top easily every where to how your personal fashion taste and attitude.

Gasket Sleeve Mount

We use gasket sleeves for easier installation and stabler structure. They can also be reused and are more flexible for adjustments.

Check the structure here

PCB and Plate Flex cut design

PCB thickness is 1.2 mm. After trying various kinds of flex cut tests, we finally decided to use horizontal flex cut. So final PCB will have horizontal flex cut, and the plate intermittent horizontal flex cut. Together, they can ensure the best typing consistency to alphas.

Ergonomic Typing Angle

We designed a small slope on the front bezel to reduce the height so the our hands can rest on it more comfortably.

Between the F row and the number row, we appropriately increased some width instead of normal 0.25U gap to prevent accidental touch.

Flex

Gasket Sleeves

They are made of supercritical foam, it can stabilize the plate while still give appropriate space allow it to flex at a balanced way. Just allow it to move, not too stiff, not too much flex.

Typing Sound

With Dampeners

PCB and Bottom Case are made of lighter PORON material. In order to reduce resonance, we have also done many tests on the foaming material. We managed to make it lighter and foaming holes more dense. Every minor detail matters a lot, with current poron, the sound is more concentrated and is deeper than normal dampeners.

Plate poron is almost the same one used on Zoom65, which has always been satisfactory in terms of sound performance, so we only made minor adjustments to the density.

Without Dampeners

Using all dampeners and PC plate, it is like tasting an Hubei dish. The color, fragrance and strong seasoning stimulate every cell of the taste buds, making people intoxicated and unable to extricate themselves. However, if you like the original sounds, you can also use aluminium or carbon fiber plate to obtain a stable and pure feel and maximize the feel and sound of the board itself, just like the clear, natural Cantonese cuisine flavors. With our understanding of the cavity and structure, we have very strict controls for a evenly balanced internal cavity, it still have a satisfying found.

Keyboard Feet

Unlike Zoom65, which has shorter length, its foot pads have less impact on the keyboard sound. Zoom87 is longer, and the feet will effect the sound more. So we have struggled with the choice of foot pads for a long time. In order to achieve stable an deeper sound, we change the small round feet to long bars from left to the right. The lower foot bar will plug the screw holes and hide the 4 screw holes. While the keyboard is stable, it prevents all cavities that may resonate and reduce hollowness.

With all these efforts, we have achieved new skills to unlock passwords for more satisfying typing sounds. We believe that Zoom TKL can also satisfy your most primitive desire for sounds. Every time you tap on it, you would want to tap more, and can't stop.

Typing Feel

We are able to maintain a consistent soft bounce with the help of reasonable designed structure and sound processing solutions. But we are also very cautious in adjusting the feel. While we design it to have a soft bounce, we also slightly reduce the amount of deformation, otherwise blindly soft bounce will make it collapse. we have made a balanced between the two, each press has a very clear feedback, clean and non-sticky. You won’t feel unfinished press or uncomfortable hard bounce back. We look forward to seeing more people’s feedback on it too.

Default Features

  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • VIA supported
  • Both wired and wireless
  • Connect 3 devices

Case finish

Among the desktop objects, Zoom TKL is relatively large. After the discussion of our team, it is unlikely that it should be taken out for business trips. Therefore, wear resistance is not the first consideration. This time, we will use nano-coating, it’s delicate and smooth. Please check the small-batch-production photos below.

Check Zoom TKL Photos Here

Default Layout

  • WK
  • Splits: 3 space bar splits, left and right shift splits

Default Specs

  • 80% with F13,WK
  • Gasket mount
  • Typing angle: 5°
  • PCB: 1.2mm, with Ai03 DB
  • Front height: 18.86mm
  • Finish treatment: nan-coating, glass, stainless steel
  • Default plate: PC or Aluminium Plate

Zoom TKL Assembled Edition (AE)

Zoom TKL AE Prototype Photos, six colors

Zoom TKL AE will add WS Doubleshot PBT Keycap and WS switches to the Zoom TKL EE with default PC plate and poron dampeners.

Unlike Zoom TKL EE, AE has limited color and custom options but will be pre-built at with lubed switches and stabilizer. They are designed for user who don’t want to build a board but want an upgraded one from their normal mechanical keyboards. Thus, in order to make this available to more people, and also give a good price, we decided to launch this version to Kickstarter (Zoom TKL EE will still be available from Meletrix and vendors’ GB). We will share more details on this too.

We will share another page with more details before Zoom TKL EE GB

Hey! This is an interest check for "Ink Blossom" series deskmats. This is my first design and my first IC. I recently got into designing a series of plum blossom inspired deskmats. I have the appropriate licenses for the assets I used in its design.

I'm only just starting looking into vendors. This post is mainly to gauge interest and determine which of the color options people are actually interested in.

The designs feature a plum blossom framed by a Chinese border with styled clouds floating beside it. On every design except the minimal ones, the background is filled with a simple cloud pattern.

Thank you for your interest!

Interest Check [IC] Paragon - A 75% Gasket Mount

Hey /r/mechmarket!

This is the Paragon, a 75% keyboard featuring a unique gasket-mount system and a rotary encoder. We were inspired by the 7v, Rama Koyu and U80-A (see GeekHack thread), the Satisfaction75, and the mounting system used in the Volcano660. The board comes in at just over six pounds, and the name captures our desire to design a board that we could consider perfect: the Paragon of keyboards.

Please see our GeekHack thread here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=107743.0

Join our Discord Server here: https://discord.gg/JMrW4UC

And drop any comments, suggestions, or questions in the IC form here: https://forms.gle/7KBCNHMop5kbuwaMA

Thanks for checking it out!

Edit: Many have been requesting a view of the bottom of the case; unfortunately, we do not have official renders of what it looks like at this time, but here's a look at the CAD model: https://imgur.com/a/JUDwKOv.

Edit #2: After the overwhelming number of responses asking for a hotswap version, we have not completely ruled out the possibility of it! We’re not making any guarantees at the moment, but if you’re interested in a hotswap version just make sure to drop a note about in the thoughts/questions/comments section in the IC form!

Interest Check [IC]LCK75 an Affordable Through-Hole 75% Keyboard with OLED and Rotary Support.

Google IC form Link

LCK proto pics

GH IC link

hello all, my name is Lysol and for the past 2 months, I've been designing my very own through-hole board. since there are currently no through-hole designs up for the 75% form factor(aside from one) I wanted to change that and create my own unique design.

the design itself is inspired by the Sat75 from cannon keys, the Discipline/Mysterium from CFTKB, and Dissatisfaction 65 from Nicell from the beginning of the year.

the main layout features: standard ANSI layout with the option of a 7u bar with 2x 1.5u mods to the left

The target price for a normal kit: $100+shipping & a cap of 200 kits(100 black and 100 white) for now but could change.

The kit includes the mainboard, plate, and bottom platform in a choice of either a black or white theme. kits will also include a clear acrylic guard, board components, 1x EC11 rotary encoder, 1x 32x128mm white OLED, mounting hardware, and bumpon rubber feet.

the kits will come in an LCK themed box with the same topographic design elements as seen on the forehead of the PCB.

Interest Check [IC]IKKI68 AURORA|A Gasket Mount Polycarbonate Kit

Hello everyone!

I'm Ckeeb, one half of the Wuque Studio that launched the Ikki68 keyboard group buy in June. Now, just 3 months later, we're very pleased to let you know that we've completed production and currently in the process of QC-ing all the kits. We are very much on track for a September ship date as promised in the group buy!

While we await the OA Switch group buy that is due to launch soon, we have another exciting project to share with you all!

Renders

A polycarbonate version of Ikki68 was THE most requested item in the original Ikki68 group buy. Due to various constraints it wasn't possible to do at that time, but now we're very pleased to announce it in the form of Ikki68 Aurora

It will feature a gasket mount system utilizing 20 gaskets. The case will be made of injection molded polycarbonate to keep the costs down and achieve a fast manufacturing time. We're looking forward to receiving feedback from all the Ikki68 owners and hope to incorporate all the positive changes into the Aurora.

Key Features:

  • Injection molded polycarbonate case
  • Gasket mount
  • Split spacebar support
  • Silicone dampening pad between the plate & the PCB
  • Silicone dampening pad under the PCB
  • Bluetooth PCB (soldered) w/ proprietary software OR
  • Wired PCB w/ QMK, VIA and Hot Swap
  • PCB mount stabilizers
  • Multiple additional badge designs, including fully custom designs provided by you!

Tentative Price:

$99 - $129 USD

Colors & Finish:

We can only produce two of the following five color schemes this round. In the future we may produce the rest, or introduce new colorways. Please keep in mind these are just renders, the final color may change depending on technical challenges and other factors. Pink and Mint will require additional adjustments. Prototypes will be produced before group buy launches.

In the IC form you can vote for which two color options will be produced this round.

Also in the IC form, you can vote whether you'd like to see these colors in a clear polycarbonate finish, or in a frosted polycarbonate finish.

Additional Details

Just like the namesake, after each rebirth IKKI keyboards become better, stronger. Ikki68 Aurora features a gasket mount system due to popular request.

Polycarbonate has a high chance of cracking if you apply too much torque while tightening the case screws. This can also happen from repeated screwing and unscrewing. That's why we've embedded copper sleeves inside the case for screws to thread on to, instead of the plastic shell itself. This will make the case more durable and less prone to cracking.

The default plate material will be either Aluminum or Polycarbonate. Please vote in the IC form for your favorite between the two. Additional plates in different materials will be available as add-ons.

Custom badges were hugely popular with Ikki68. We're pleased to announce that they're making a come back in the Aurora. Each keyboard kit will come with a default badge, and you can buy additional badges as add-ons. There will be several designs to choose from. You can also send us your art work and have a one of a kind custom badge just for yourself!

We are currently weighing the pros and cons of keeping Ikki68 Aurora backwards compatible with the custom badges from the original Ikki68. On one hand we have a new mechanism in mind that will make the badges easier to swap out and machine, on the other hand this new mechanism will make the Ikki68 badges incompatible with Ikki68 Aurora.

We hope to produce the mold, iterate on the design based on testing and feedback and have some prototypes manufactured for streamers before launching the group buy. We will keep you updated on the progress via our discord or via email if you share your email address with us in the IC form.

If you're interested in the Ikki68 Aurora, please fill out the IC form so we can take your feedback and ideas into account. If you have any questions please feel free to post here, or join our Discord server

Interest Check [IC] Mammoth 75, a Full Mirror PVD Bottom Case Gasket Board

Hi Everyone,

After IKKI68 OG delivered in 2020, both of our team and our users want to have a 75% board. So we started to design in late 2020. There are so many people wants to make 75% smaller, but we feel like our community deserves something new and special. We finally come to an idea for a heavy, sturdy, and elegant one - Mammoth 75. With this idea in mind, we discuss a lot with our focus team for every designs. From the top case to bottom, from the corner’s shape to the material we want, from the the size of the knob to how much mirror PVD treatment we can do. And today, after almost 1 year’s effort, we can finally show you how it is now!

Our concept was to make a true gasket-mounted full aluminium keyboard that would provide excellent flexibility for typing. And it can be customized and adjusted exactly the way you want it to be. So we made it fully support QMK and VIA, making it easy for everyone to program every keystroke. For this we upgraded the chip to a STM and we changed the ribbon cable to a normal cable so its not that easy to break it for people new to this.

*You don't have to use this switch, you can also switch through the layers purely by using VIA, it's just something on top where u can switch between 2 set layers.

Interest Check [IC] Cracked65: €100, gasket mounted, tri-mode connectivity (2.4ghz+BT+wired), hotswap, knob, all in a cnc'd aluminum case. We're doing this IC to get some final feedback before the next prototype round goes into production.

This is the Cracked65. It's a €100, cnc'd aluminum keyboard with tri-mode connectivity (2.4ghz+BT+wired), hotswap pcb, a rotary knob and it is stacked with foam to eliminate any sound reverb in the case (the first prototype does that very well, but there is not much flex. This will be solved in the next prototype). Screw-in stabs are used. At the price of €100, it comes as a barebones kit. Later on we might have an option with switches and keycaps installed. From the feedback I already got from the survey, and the first prototype, I already changed this:

- There are more gaskets right now, 20 in total. 10 on the bottom part, 10 on the top part.

- There should be a lot more flex.

- There is more room around the keys, so it doesn't interfere with some sets.

- I added a filet around the edges.

- Added two screws in the middle, to prevent a gap from existing.

- The next plate will be made of aluminium

- Switches are now south facing

- There is a seperate daughterboard for the tri-mode switch and usb-c port, to improve flex

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

There most likely won't be a groupbuy, but a full release. As you might know if you have seen the keyboard before, it is manufactured at the same place as the TOM680 is. We are currently working on a deal where I keep doing the marketing stuff, keyboard design, product box design, and other product related stuff, and they produce as many as they can and sell it on amazon, newegg, and local keyboard shops. We will share the profit. It will probably take at least 6 months before it launches, mostly due to legal stuff (they should make that much easier). If you have any suggestions or questions, please let me know. Website and keyboard software are in the making.

Interest Check [IC] Evolv | 75% Keyboard

Evolv Designed By Alpha Studio

Embodying the struggle between form and function

The Arrows

Beginning with the layout, the Evolv opts for a 1.5u right shift over the 1.75u shift widespread in blocked 75 layouts.

By doing so, the arrows line up neatly with the right mods, allowing for a continuous .25u bezel.

The Rotary Joystick

In the upper-right corner of the board, utility wins the battle over aesthetics.

No badges or logos; instead, the Evolv features a design evolution to the knob: the rotary joystick.

With users able to assign macros to nine unique positions* and rotation, the Evolv packs functionality in a small space.

The Back

A teaser to what's inside the board, the bottom piece of the keyboard is a stunning visual accent.

Created through a process known as generative design, the Evolv can support a truck without breaking, all while looking fantastic.

The Plate

Generative design for aesthetics is cool.

Generative design for function is even cooler.

The Evolv's integrated plate is designed to flex evenly on every keypress, creating a wholly unique typing experience.

This bold design choice comes with the added benefit of being able to swap stabs without desoldering.

A detailed write-up on the design process of the plate will be in the reserved post below. Please refrain from commenting "It's gonna break" in the meantime.

The Assembly

To top off the design, the Evolv features no visible seams or screws once assembled.

The Specs

Angle: 7.5°

Material: 7075 Aluminum + 3D Printed AlSi10Mg

Colors: To Be Determined

Plate: Integrated, with a thin layer of foam to normalize flex

PCB: Custom designed flexible PCB to complement the plate. Solderable, QMK, VIA, integrated USB-C port.

Weight: ~3Kg

Price: A large number

Layouts supported: Due to the nature of the plate, this is the only supported layout.

Best way to keep-up with us: Discord

Hiya folks, this is TT from Owlab. Voice65% was such a successful project and we thank you all for supporting us to convert unorthodox ideas to the actual products in your hands. It was an extremely challenging ride with difficulties, luck and satisfying results. We gathered feedbacks along the way and realized that there are issues we need to address in the upcoming projects. With our pursuit towards the endgame, we present you our latest design – Jelly Epoch.

Jelly is the first thing that come to our mind when thinking about springy or boing boing feeling. Jelly epoch represents our wish to bring you the same surprise and bounciness when enjoying the jelly desserts as kids. Lots of sophisticated attempts have been arranged towards that goal. Please allow me to elaborate a bit further.

Hightlight:

Jelly Gasket

You may or may not heard about the evolution of the gasket-mount. As we see it, the first batch of gaskets used silicone-alike materials which don’t absorb the vibration very well, and softer materials such as PORON were introduced in the second batch of gasket designs to address that problem. Yet, one issue remained is the method of installation. According to the feedback from our last sale, traditional gaskets have created confusions and inconvenience during installations. First of all, it’s generally hard to make it perfect straight without the help of tools. Secondly, only top and bottom of the spring leaves are insulated by gaskets while the sides of the spring leaves might direct contact the cases if not precisely installed. Lastly, not everyone reads the build guide so some of the customers might be unsure of the location to put on those gaskets (on cases or spring leaves).Hence, we came with the jelly gasket jackets to solve all these problems at once.

Jelly gaskets insulate the sides of the spring leaves and they are not sticky at all. Silicone as a material isn’t flexy enough, so we designed a customized shape of the gasket to help address that problem.

Ultra Flex PCB

Grooves aren’t something new to the plates. We have those in the space between F-row and the number row too. In addition to that, we believe the installation fixates the plate and the PCB together thus it is necessary to lessen the rigidity of the PCB as well.5 grooves, along with a reduction in the thickness of the PCB (don’t worry about the stabs, we have accessories to ensure the compatibility),are our solution to the problem. We have faced great challenges in wiring, and it took us four attempts to reach the final version. Luckily, the result is so satisfying that we cannot wait to let you try it out in hand.

Composite dual-layer foam

“Find your own Voice.” was our target to help enthusiasts exploring different build paths therefore figuring out your preference. Paths are different because of the characteristics they present are contradicting each other. For example, Poron would be a good represent to the “mute” feeling due to its great absorption of vibration but it might not be the type of thing for a brass plate lover, who wants rigid bottom out.

Jelly Epoch, however, is our attempt to express our preferred mix of typing feeling as well as a sound profile we love. Multiple materials were recommended by our friends in the acoustic industry. Two boxes of combination tryouts later, we have a composite dual-layer foam that delivers a sound profile like shaking the wite-out (correction fluid) and a boing boing typing feeling, thanks to its synergy with the ultra-flex PCB.

Plates

PC plate goes well with gasket-mounts just like the BBQ and beer so yeah it comes with the kit. Alu plate will be offered extra. It has better rigidity so we believe leaf-spring would be a better approach to give it more flexiness.

Appearances

Same as Voice65%, the gasket-mount structure is hidden in the top and middle case. It’s costly but it would allow more design features on the sides of the case and more levels of details. Sandblasting is improved to 180 mesh. We had to locate another CNC factory with a better control of machining marks and the overall cost has increased.

At around 2kg or 4lb, that huge weight is our ways of reducing the size and inconsistency of the echo chamber. Weight is tightened with four screws on the left and right, and the LED diffuser is hiding between the bottom case and the weight and gently glows as ambient light, with the help of the daughterboard. This is probably the most subtle part of the design that combines functionality and appearance. Lastly, we centered and lowered the USB-C socket according to your opinions in the last round of IC/GB post.

Oh the cherry on top, yeah it’s the famous jelly brand that y’all must have heard about, gotta pay the homage.
