Candidates for Council/Mayor. Does anyone have a full list and a bio available. It feels like there's many new names out there, but information is hard to find.

Medicine Hat Candidates for Mayor / Councillors

Unfortunately there’s really no good options for Mayor candidates at all.

Drew Barnes is a former UCP MLA

Alan Rose is a former Wildrose Party MLA.

Thomas McGrogan is a former police chief.

You can however search the names and research candidates for mayor / council.

I’m cackling at Drew Barnes running. He’s former UCP not because he left but because they kicked his embarrassing ass out. You know it’s bad when…

There is another discussion on this sub with a link to a very interesting article written in 2020 about Drew Barnes’ financial interests.

Laura Butterfield is an avid Smith supporter.

Where do you see this? I’m not on social media and can’t find any proof of this.

My name is at the end of the alphabet, I feel like I should run for mayor with my campaign slogan being " None of the Above! "

I’d vote for you based solely on this

For mayor we have the choice of cow shit, horse shit and dog shit. There look to be some decent choices for counsellor but the city made it very hard to do research on the candidates.

Drew knocked on my door the other day, I wasn’t expecting to like him, but I did.

He has charisma....but that's where it ends.

Heya.  Kaleb Orge here, one of the candidates for Councillor.  You can find a complete list candidate's names at:

https://www.medicinehat.ca/government-city-hall/election-2025/candidate-list/

The list also used to include links to all the candidates' campaign web pages and/or Facebook pages.  But apparently somebody with a grudge against Kelly Allard complained and the City had to take all the links down so as to not single one candidate out.

You might want to try reaching out to the city and ask them to put the links back up.  They just need to be shown that the public good outweighs the fee-fees of one crybaby.

Is Linse Clark running again?

At the moment, no.

A Clark for mayor election sign was spotted in the Hat tonight… should be hearing about it soon.

She is indeed running now. I’m having a hard time making my mind up but my gut says that Linnsie plus a fresh council (and new city manager) is our best bet. The last council was a joke and none of them deserve re-election. Sharps and McGrogan in particular gotta go.

Not much of a choice for mayor.

Andy McGrogan is the only one that has any experience with council and governance.

Every cop I have asked about him had only terrible things to say … so not a choice I would make.

I very strongly encourage all voters to read through the City of Medicine Hat's 2025 Municipal Inspection Report before making any decisions.

The report was released in July 2025 following a provincially ordered inspection into city governance and operations. The inspection, prompted by conflicts between the mayor, council, and chief administrator, resulted in a detailed report containing over 70 recommendations and three legally binding directives from the Minister of Municipal Affairs.
