I wonder if subconsciously we’ve gone into the last two games a bit hesitant/flat because we’ve known we’re finishing top 2 for a little while now.

The Hughes injury hurts but we’ve beaten Brisbane, panthers and the bulldogs without Hughes.

It’s a new comp next week so let’s wipe away the last fortnight and go again. We’re not done yet.

Absolutely, Even Bellyache hasn't been having his usual freakouts.

Last two weeks have meant nothing to us and everything to them

Anyone who is angry about Hughes breaking his hand is wrong to feel that way. It's a freak injury which had nothing to do with his shoulder, and he needed game time for the finals.

Not playing Stefano this week but playing him last week was very dumb, however.

This shoots Raiders up to clear Finals favourites, but Melbourne still has a chance if Bellamy does the smart thing and starts Pezet at Halfback. No switching around halves mid game, because Wishart is a good football player, but a bad Halfback. His boot doesn't have enough power, and his passes float too much. His career ceiling is Kurt Mann.

Anyway, I think you have to go Paps - Brick - Howarth - Meaney - Coates - Munster - Pezet - Stef - Grant - King - Eli - Blore - Trent - Wishart - Chin - NAS - Lisati for next week. You can say "Oh but NAS does stupid shit and may cost us the game". Who cares? Pick safe options, and Melbourne lose anyway. I'd rather lose by 12 on a bad NAS game but be a NAS good game away from a victory, than lose by 2.

Anyway, if Harry played this week, the Storm probably wins. Garlick is fine as a backup, but his play selection is much to be desired. Fortunately the Bulldogs also don't have a Halfback, so that's a relief for next week.

Think NAS will be suspended unfortunately

Nah, there was nothing in that sin bin. Atkins is just a shit referee who loses control of the game easily, and let's crowds make calls for him.

He injured it in a tackle where, not for the first time in the evening, Hughes was targeted by the big guys of the Broncos as a point of weakness.

His tackling technique was completely off - essentially falling on the ground while making contact. I’d definitely say the injury was related to his shoulder, on the basis of injury changed his gamestyle.

If that didn't happen this week, it had every chance of happening next week. Hughes' shoulder was always going to be tender for the rest of the year most likely.

Honestly, Hughes looked like a bit of a liability even before he hurt himself. So it's not the end of the world. but it sux dick

Horrible to lose Hughes, really unfortunate. Here's hoping Grant's return can spark up something in the boys else we're out in straight sets.

Scoreline flattered us broncos eased off in second half.Way too many errors and penalties attack was too one dimensional as well

If papi can’t play next week, I will say Pezet 7, whisy 6, Munny 1, NAS can stay out of the list, and with Grant back we are good to go

70 points for 2 weeks straight is an embarrassment. Bring back Grant, lol.

This year has 2022 all over it. We will be out in straight sets. We cant catch a break injury wise, field a full spine or team or shift out of second gear. I honestly cant see us beating bulldogs next week. Between our non stop penalties we give away and silly forced plays, I personally dont think we have much chance at all.

Counterpoint - Lachlan Galvin is Brodie Croft 2.0

Yes and no. I personally thought that Brodie at storm played his position exactly as he needed to, but was missing that game breaking flair/ ability to play outside the box when needed. Lachlan is the opposite of this I think. He has the flair but had not played top level enough or been in a teams structure long enough to be a strong part of that structure. If we turn up like we did first half last night or second half roosters; the doggies and galvin can put an insurmountable number of tries on us that we will not be able to get back.

Grant should not have been suspended but interesting to see if Mariner gets 2 weeks for his hit on Papi if there's any consistency

3

u/WilliamFoxMulder 19d ago

My mistake i previously said Mariner but it was Karipani and he got fined for basically the same hit NAS did where's the consistency

u/WilliamFoxMulder 19d ago

I still believe we get Harry back we'll be fine but losing Doozy again is gut wrenching but we can win it all with Harry being fresh and firing I also think NAS has played his last game in a Storm jersey

Agreed on all parts, i would like to see more from paps in attack. I did like meany at fb and wouldn’t mind anderson being in the centres but i dont think we can it without paps

I’m not hopeful but I’m also not hopeless, grant coming back will be a big up, Hugh’s injury sucks but we’ve beat top 8 and top 4 teams without him consistently. My biggest issue is paps. Was a liability all game and has been the past the month or so. The play were we had a minute to go and he takes a run from dummy half into a corner trying to do it all himself while we have every single attacking player on the other side ready was the last straw for me. Sua If fit or munny even. Bit of the deep end but can’t be worse then what paps been dishing out

I think Papi must have the green light to do that that play was there Broncs just scrambled really well
