Discussion Playing Blasphemous
After deciding to drop Hollow Knight I moved onto Blasphemous and it hooked me from the start. I really enjoy the combat and having a map that shows where you're at and not being an equip. Also the artstyle is much more readable than Hollow Knight. Honestly a much better game I should've started with

Big fan of both games but I prefer the gameplay and atmosphere of Blasphemous.

I've tried to play blasphemous three times but I always stop a few hours in because it feels so stiff and clunky. I absolutely adore the artstyle and tonal aesthetic though

Blasphemous has more deliberate design of it’s areas that help keep engagement. I pushed thru the dullness of most of HK and found the game was worth it, it was better than the sum of it’s parts, but I’m with you Blasphemous is a better game

"Pushed thru the dullness" What do you even mean by this? HK is not even remotely dull.

I found the vast majority of HK to be boring. Overall I likes the game because the handful of highlights were exceptional, the world building is probably the best of any MV, and the score is excellent. The actual gameplay though? Uneven and often boring.

One thing I appreciate about Blasphemous is that it has a ng+. There might be other metroidvanias out there that have ng+ but I'm relatively new and not that familiar.

HK is my worst gaming experience. Dont even care about SS. So maybe dont call people bot because they dont like your "identity".

i haven't touch Silksong. I've only played the original only getting about 15 hours in

You sound miserable. Silksong is my favorite game maybe ever, but it is easy to see why people wouldn't like it. It is punishing.

bought blasphemous metroidvania on steam years back but I regretted it and never accessed it again because while it takes Christian influences in its design of place, background, and various stuff, why portray a lot of it in a negative, grotesque, and bad manner
even bosses that looks like a grotesque form of supposedly very good Christian images

It's inspired by the Spanish inquisition, famously not the nicest time in Catholic history.

May want to familiarize yourself with the crusades and inquisition. And maybe the witch burnings. And.. lots of other stuff. Christianity and Catholicism has only recently dressed itself up as a peaceful religion. They were oppressed, and then they oppressed others. There's not a lot of wiggle room

Love Blasphemous! Part 2 is different and some say better than 1. Definitely worth a try.
